so i did a gt40 intake swap on my 86 mercury capri. after i did the swap i started it up and it ran really rough. timmings good. smells likes its not burning all the fuel. i think i fouled out the plugs so now its not running. any suggestions?

possibly a vacuum leak due to the gaskets being off. did you rtv the corners of the lower intake to ensure no gaps exist? also make sure your vacuum lines are all connected. if anything get come carb cleaner and spray your intake to see if it bogs down the motor. just spray the upper intake behind the throttle body and all the vacuum lines as well the lower intake of course.

It smells like fire, is your distributor clean and firing good on every wire all the way to the plug? Timing? Lean on the front back sides of the manifold, no I'm not on drugs, I just spent 2 weeks chasing down a idle issue when I first joined this site and after doing a swap out of upper and lower intake from stock to Trick flow I had an idle issue and when i was leaning over to grab a socket that I dropped back behind by the PCV Valve the engine changed idle back to normal and when I lean off it went high, Im telling you it was only 1 and a half turns on one bolt and that was all it was but this was the upper manifold bolt, the lower if not done in the right pattern in my experience/mistakes have left me loping and leaking from not using sealant on the front and back of the lnt manifold, just using the little gaskets with normal rtv , I know its not a gt 40 but no matter how sure you are about the bolts check all of them.
