I have a 86gt with 89upper I/T, I want to install a Cobra upper&lower along with some ported heads. first thing I noticed when checking out cobra I/T when it arrived is it has fewer fittings under the upper plenum, kit came with a fitting that I believe goes into the one end of the upper where there is a threaded hole. Then there is only two holes in middle section of upper, one of which must take the fitting that has three hoses on it. I want to make sure all the required vacume hoses etc. can be hooked up. anyone with cobra install experience out there? any advice would be appreciated.

All you have to do is note carefully everything that currently gets vacuum on your current set up. Then pick up the fittings you need (tees, reducers, etc.) to plumb up your new system so that everything that had vacuum before has it after.

I just installed a 93 Cobra on my 95...The upper has a 3 prong tree and then 1 large to feed the PCV....plus you have the one on the drivers corner thats hooks to the PCV line anyway...

Small line on the 3 prong feeds FPR...one feeds to a vac tree on the drivers side...one feeds purge soleniod for charcoal can..these are 95 routings, you guys must be close to the same??
PCV is all set...
I needed 4 vac feeds only...

Hope these help???

5.0capri - try to have a back up plan; even if you plan it out completely, there's no predicting what might occur during the job - bolts break, pieces come apart and gaskets you thought you might reuse come apart, hoses you thought were good are not once you get into the job. Certainly you know someone with a car that can run to the parts store if need be.

Just be sure your fuel pressure regulator and MAP sensor are on dedicated lines to the manifold or you could have dirveability problems. If you must, you can put them on the same manifold tap. Just don't put them on the tap that the brake booster uses.

That's useful for me to know Tom - thanks for the posting; I guess the SD cars need a solid vacuum signal for the map sensor/fpr. Probably a good rule of thumb is to not tap into the brake booster or pcv vacuum lines for anything else.
