Well I final got the issues with the high temps on my intercooler resolved. As a refresher, my Intercooler temp was about a constant 160 most of the time and about 180 to 190 on a hot day. When I had my car dyno tuned they were seeing IAT of 250 degrees.

Neither one of those is good so I asked Chicane to install their kickass intercooler on the car. Its fully sealed, forcing all air to pass thru it. The stock units pretty much suck and allow a lot of air to pass around them. Anyway, once all the air was forced to go thru the intercooler I was actually seeing even higher temps on the Intercooler h2o gauge. I'm talking 190 on a mild day without getting in it. Not good.

So Joe suggested I pull the heat exchanger off the car and pressure wash it from the backside to blow all the crap out of it. I then sat and straightened out any bent fins and cleared any small rocks and other crap that had gotten stuck in it. It was a pretty big mess. I then refilled it using about 20 percent coolant, 60 percent water, and then wetter water.

End result... the Intercooler h20 is now hovering around 140 and the car pulls strong as hell. I'm curious what the IAT is now so I have an appointment next Monday to get it on a dyno and retuned. Hopefully I can see a lot more then 367rwhp out of it.

Interesting... you now have Joes improved intercooler in your car right?
Could you give me an idea of what the cost is for the intercooler and install
labor?

Agreed. With the air intake temps so high they couldn't put any timing into it without it pinging, hence the low numbers. Now she should be mucho better.

Yes, Joe hooked me up. It cost 699 for the intercooler and then 10 hours of labor. On the series I and II cars it would be about 5 hours of labor I guess but the series V on my car was a bitch. Not sure if that would be the same for the series IV.

Don't worry.

Now that Steve can throw some timing into it you are going to see a huge improvement. Your next issue will be getting enough fuel. Welcome to the club!

Was Steve able to read the air charge temperature through the OBDII port? I really want to know where mine is at before doing further mods.

Well got it dyno'd today. Now I'm at 400rwhp, 405rwtq. Steve actually pulled a little bit of timing out of it because it was pinging when he first ran it. He said the a/f was right on, just too much timing. I mentioned I was thinking of going to a smaller pulley and boost a pump in the future but he didn't recommend it. He said that the issue now is the 91 octane gas. Don't know. But the last tune with Steve in September it ran at 350rwhp, this time 400rwhp. I'm pretty happy with those numbers for now.

Dennis, sorry I forgot to ask about how he measured the intake charge.

Get some 92 or 93 octane in there, add some timing, and youll see some more torque

Those are good numbers more like it, but there is plenty more in that blower

Good numbers ? How much boost is that?
Ask Joe to swapp a KB, the s281E will pick up another 100rwhp for that same boost level...

Why would I spend 5000 for 100hp when I could just spend 550 on a methanol/water injection kit and a 3.25" pulley, and be there anyway. So I can say I have a KB? No thanks. Besides, from outside appearances I want to keep the car looking as stock as possible and a nice shiny KB under the hood doesn't really work with that theme.

Anyway, I'm seeing 10 pounds (edit: confirmed its 10 pounds this morning )of boost right now and 400hp on a conservative tune. It probably has 425 in it easily but why push it? I'm not into destroying my engine so I can try to impress people on this board, when some people on here probably post BS numbers anyway or they'll be rebuilding their engine in 6 months to a year because they're idiots.
