Intercooler on supercharger....... Suggestions?

Anyone in here running an intercooler on their vortech? I just do not like how my car runs like ass when the warm weather gets here. Are there any reasonable ways to put a intercooler on mine with the A-trim?? Not looking to spend thousands of dollars either

well it's for a paxton, but same concept...

some cutting will be neccessary!

Parts:

-Intercooler
-"L" shaped brackets to hang the intercooler. Purchased at any hardware store
-3" 304 SS pipe
-1 U shaped
-3 90* bends
-1 45* bend (or you could use a 45* coupler+straight section of pipe)
-assortment of couplers/clamps

What I did was, I turned my intake around backwards so the throttle body was pointing towards the driver's side. I then routed the tubing through the apron where the washer fluid resevoir was, down into the intercooler. this is where it gets a little tricky...

now on the pass. side of the intercooler(exit) it goes into a 90* bend slanted upwards and into where the stock airbox was. this section will require you to make that oval into more of a triangle shape by grinding upwards in the center of the top part of the oval. i used a 45" coupler coming off that pipe, into a straight section, then into another 45* coupler, into the U bend, and connected that to the blower outlet. i should have pics of it all together within the next few weeks, but here's how it is for the most part...

that setup looks good!

did it make much of a performance difference?
and what did you have to do with the throttle linkage to get it to work properly....
and i assume you had to extend the harness for the TPS, IAC etc etc to reach the sensors in their new locations?

car can't even start yet, so i dunno lol. the cooler, the better! what i did was i turned the throttle body upside down so it was still pulling from the correct position.

i actually relocated the IAC sensor right before the throttle body. so SOME lengthening will have to be done, but in the overall scheme of things, it's the least of your worries lol

yeah i would be interested also in a write up of the project, let us know how it runs and if it made any difference from before...

another thing, i am guessing you clocked your housing closer to the drivers side right? my vortech v1s outlet it alot closer to the passenger side and would almost be impossible to efficiently make a 180 turn to the front of the car...... i'd have to clock my housing...

yes, i clocked the housing as far as i could without hitting the valve cover

I wouldnt have the option of turning the intake, def looks like some fab work to think about. I am still brainstorming

What intake are you running that you couldn't flip it, Typhoon? It'd go the opposite direction, if need be. You just might have issues with the oil fill tube on the passenger side valvecover. That's nothing a set of aftermarket valvecovers couldn't fix, IMO.

Edit: This one is taking a technical turn. Moved to 5.0 Tech.

he could just swap valve covers so the one w ith the fill is on the driver's side
