I spent a little time inside of my Mustang, but not driving it. I wanted the red and black interior from the start, but couldn't find one within a thousand miles.

Still have some work to do on the doors.
Charcoal seat covers will be up for sale or trade.

Damn, I'm sorry dood, but I've never liked the porno-red interior... But to each their own, and it looks like a good job so far!

Looks good. How hard was it to swap the leather? I have some red leather I bought off someone on another board, but haven't decided whether to do it on my own or take it to a shop.

its a bit of a PITA. you have to be sure to put the hog rings in the proper spots, or the covers will be loose and look like crap.

it is doable yourself, just takes a little research before you tackle it.

Def a PITA, but a new learning experince. Takes a lot more time than you may think. Unless you do that kind of work day in and out.

i am getting ready to install leather in my car, bought it with cloth and got a leather take-off for $300. saved alot of money since all the cars with leather had tons of extras i didn't want to pay for. Any tips for the install or things to stay away from

Yes! see if you can find replacement clips for the plastic trim on the seat bottoms so you can just tear out the old. You need 2 for each side. Saving the clips was a huge PITA. Use a little soap to make things slide easier, like headrest and seat backs. If you have power seats remember to raise them all the way before removing them. You may want to have some gloves and or band-aids handy, the stainless on the frames has some very sharp edges.

To me, the red leather looks ok, but I don't think I could live with it day in and day out. Also, I don't know if I've ever paid attention to a non IUP GT...ugly steering wheel and no upper dash trim panels! Yours doesn't look too bad being that you extended the silver lower on the dash and around the center console and head light switch. I can see you have put quite an effort into it and the job looks nicely done. I have to give you credit on that

I have the factory red and love it. I can't imagine not having it. I have the charcoal IUP.

I've got a black '05 GT and RED leather....and love it...Black with Red just does it for me I suppose.

Nice work on the car...

You should pick up a GT500 steering wheel. It has black leather with red stiching. That'll compliment it nicely.

I've got, IMO, the best of both worlds...Non IUP, but my car did come with the interior sport appearance package. So I've got the nicer wheel and shifter and metal pedals, but a black dash, which I prefer. I did want the instrument cluster with the message center so I did go buy one and had it put in.

Oh, and nice work, GT Dave...looks good!

For the record the main thing that drove me to do this was that in the 25 years I've been driving every car that I have owned has has a black interior. I had to have something else this time and a red and black was love at first sight for me.
Thanks for all the replies.

Sorry - but I personally do not like the red interior.... Once you go black - you never go back.
