Are interior pieces all the same from 87-93 GT's? Such as would a 91 complete interior just go right into an 87 or 88 car?

yes they are the same...the steering wheel is different in the previous years I believe 89 offered tilt steering and no airbag til 90...door panels were carpeted in earlier years as well but still the same design...Interior pieces should fit without a problem.

I think the ragtops had a slightly different interior cause of the raptop! Vissors are different for one thing and I think window and door controls may be different too! I know seatbelts are different too!

The point at which the seatbelt bolts to the pillar is in a different location after 1990 I believe. I tried to use 88 rear interior panels in my 90 and they did not work.

not only that, the dash is completly different in 90-93 cars, cause they added in a knee type panel below the steering wheel. the 87-89 dash does not have the mouting places for this panel. So the pieces under the dash are different too. The console is the same, and so are most of the trim pieces. the hvac controls are different, and the steering wheel trim.

Are you absolutely sure about the interior quarter panels not being the same? Is yours a hatch or a vert? cuz I just can't see Ford making different quarterpanels on a same body style car...

As regards to the dash...it's the same except the steering wheel does not have a til function hence you get the steering cover under-neath...Nothing structually different about the dash...or anything in that matter...

I am positive the dash is different. The 87-89's had the fuse panel cover, as part of the under dash. the 90-93's fuse panel does not even go through the dash. The 90-93 dashes have two points on the drivers side, which stick out in order to allow for the mounting of the knee panel. Also, the 90-93's have different instrument cluster covers, (the piece the houses the light switches). I am sure of all this because I just tried to put my 87 interior into a 90 GT, and compared every part after I pulled both. Didn't work out. Also, the area of the dash that bolts up behind the instrument cluster is also different.

Hey Cobra, is it impossible to get the 90-93 knee pad to fit the 87-89 dash? I wanted to switch to the knee pad to freshen up the interior a little. From the pics that I looked at it looked like everything was the same, just that the fuse block was not cut out of the dash.

Yes the 90+ rear interior panels are different mainly because of the rear shoulder belts. The tonneau cover is also different because the space they go in is not the same width. However, it is a fox car whether it's 87-89 or 90-93 so yes you can install the shoulder belts in the older interior and use the newer panels, but the shoulder belt installation might take some fabrication because the provision for it would not have been there on the earlier cars. Or use the newer panels only and fill in the hole for the shoulder belt...

I never heard that before...reason for being so curious...I want to replace my current rear interior quarterpanel because it has a little crack...I purchased one but have no idea what year it came from...What shoulder belt are you talking about? The seat belt if that's what you guys are talking about seems to be in the same exact spot...Oh and are we talking about a HatchBack or a Vert? cuz I know the verts have different quarter panels but I always thought the Hatchbacks had the same...

Yes the rear quarter panels are different, and I have a coupe by the way. I couldn't believe it either. I was so pissed cause I had already died my new panels to go in, then I got them in and the damn hole didn't line up.

pre-90 had lap belts for the rear seat passengers while 90+ had rear shoulder belts.

lxsteed, what hole didn't line up? Did they move the front shoulder belt upper mount as well?
