Well, my car has done this twice so far over the past two weeks and basically i turn it on and drive it to classes and it is way down on power, it hesitates, and sputters, through all the rpms, it doesnt surge but it will idle very rough. I just say **** it and drive it to school. Then when i leave to go home it runs great. Then it ran great for about a week and now it did it again today, ran ****ty on my way there and then when i started it on the way back it ran fine. I dunno im just gonna look around and see if i find anything but anyone have any ideas. I think it might be fuel related but i guess we will see.

intermittant problems can only be solved when you find the specific set of circumstances that cause them.....Or when it gets worse.

otherwise, you will be on a wild goose chase.

Good luck
Scott

Like Justin said, try pulling codes.

On another note, HAHA!! At least I'm not the only one with problems. I shot flames out of my dumps tonight I'm running so damn rich.

Tried but it didnt give me any codes. I think im gonna drive with my tweecer around on constantly so i can catch the problem and see if i can find an answer. Im never data logging when it happens. Lame i hope its not my 255lph fuel pump going out because its only a couple years old.

how old is your ignition system? your distributor wouldn't happen to be original?
your problems seem similar when my distributor started to go out on me. then it just kept getting worse.

Hey White...sorry to hear that IAC didnt work for you. Have you ever replaced your o2 sensors? If not, how many miles on them. My car did almost the same thing when I needed new o2's...it was somewhat similar when I needed a new distributer...(TOLD YOU SO!!! J/K) You now the deal still stands if you want it

Actually the the surging is gone so i think the IAC helped. 02s are within the last 20k miles. The distributor is original 130,000 miles old. Could be something in there. the problem is completely intermittent. IT will run all crappy and then the next startup it runs great for the next 3 or 4 days. The coil and ignition module are new less than 2k old performance distributors kit.

Sorry to hear bro...just be glad your car starts :damnit:

You probably already have but maybe your MAF is dirty? I hate these problems that come and go like my idle issue....it really SUCKS to try to solve

Just look for people who had have the same problem and their solution. Then start trying to find ways to get those replacement parts REALLY cheap so u dont waste money.

I think i may have found what the problem is!!! It started doing it again today on my way home and when i got home i popped the hoodjust lookin around. I noticed my #6 plug wire had come in contact with the header and was melted. Then i could see spark arcing from the the wire to the header. It did it for sec, then stopped then did it again, so thats probably why its intermittent. Hopefully thats it.

Running on 7 cylinders will definitely make it run crappy. Good luck, I'm hoping it's just that too.
