Intermittent battery connection

I went out to start my car last Friday, and nothing happened. The battery had lost connection somewhere. When I popped the hood latch, suddenly I had a good connection again. I pulled the battery cables off and cleaned them and the posts. Put them back on and everything was fine until this morning. Go outside, car won't start, pop the hood, car is good to go. Should I be looking for a bad ground? If so, should I look somewhere around the hood latch? Has this happened to anyone before?

Does the engine not crank, or do you also not have lights & radio?

Check the ground wires where they bolt to bare metal to make sure they are clean & shiny.

The car acts like there is no battery. But after the hood latch pops, everything is fine. I figure it is a ground problem. Just didn't have time this morning (6:00 am) to go poking around the engine compartment. I will check the grounds tonight.

happened to me some time ago, freaked out looking for the bad ground, checking the negative cable...
turned out it wasnt a good connection on the POS cable on the battery. Freaky, took a layer off and tightened the connection, good to go

It happened again this afternoon. There I was in the parking lot of my building just slamming the hood. After 3 times, the connection was made. Where are all the grounds that I should check for. I have cleaned the battery posts and connections.

Same thing just happened to me the other day. It was the positive side connection on the battery. I cleaned mine and it still happened afterwards so I just bought a new positive side cable with battery connection.

i had that problem and one of the connections on the staret selionoid "sp" was loose.

if your battery is to tall or not the same dimentions as the battery tray it may slide and short on the hood had that happen good luck
