I have a question for all of the IRS guys. I don't plan on supercharging or turbo, but I am considering cams, ported heads etc., and I want to keep the IRS in my car as long as possible. I know about the urethane bushings, pinion support brace, etc. With my car being a '99, are there any advantages, and will the '03 half shafts work on my car. If not, what are some of the aftermarket companies that carry the upgraded half shafts for the 99's. Any feedback will help.

keep the IRS it is awesome. Kenny brown makes an excellant setup for our cars....they redo the top and bottom arms in a weight saving strengthening tubular design. Half shafts are going to cost you...sure you can get 03 shafts but keep in mind that they are still production pieces. Go with aftermarket. I seen a company selling them for like 1300 and were good for 700-800 hp. Search the web and you'll find them.

Well IMO the IRS in the 99-01 Cobras are junk. Ok so with that out of the way you can use '03 Cobra halfshafts but you will have to swap out the carrier in the rear. '99s have a 28 spline shaft where as the '01's and '03s have 31 spline. You can get aftermarket shafts for yours. Raxle used to make them, not sure if they still do for the '99s. Otherwise you may want to look into the DSS brand.

Good luck with it.

Cobra vs Mustang. Got a good deal on one that was painted to match my car then turned around and sold mine so I almost broke even.
