Forced Induction On3 Turbo Kit- Parts list NEEDED - 302 Stock Motor

I was looking at this 5.0 Vortech Supercharger kit, and it seemed great, but it didn't meet the power goals I was looking for.

My stock block, stock 302 displacement , stock HO cam, iron gt40 heads, explorer intake, 65mm throttle body, 30lb injectors and a tune made 400hp at the rear wheels with Vortec V3 on 10psi. That’s at least 450hp at the crank. Totally tame with cruising too. I can chug along at 30 mph in 4th gear with no bogging whatsoever.

The Vortec will get you there with the right pulley combo
 
Is this car a daily driver? Or a weekend toy?

There is already a lot of good advice posted in this thread.

Here are a few thoughts from one who has had a stock fox body since the early 1980's and followed the forums since their inception in the early 2000's.

If this is your daily transportation consider staying n/a. Turbo cars seem to have a lot of downtime. More often not running than are running. Always. There are many examples of that in this forum.

Buy a good set of jack stands, fender covers, rags, nitrile gloves, cardboard to lay down on under the car, oil absorber, and have a fully stocked tool chest. You're going to need it. Especially if you are shopping for the cheaper turbo kits and trying for maximum power.

As for the cammed "chop" sound, keep in mind that the turbo(s) will muffle and change that sound. The turbo doesn't necessarily make the best power with the cam that would provide that sound either. Cam choice should be matched to the supporting parts - heads, intake, injectors, turbo, supercharger, exhaust, etc. to work together for best power.

There are many threads here about the upgrades that these cars respond well to for both power and performance. Some are cheap and cost very little. Some are about safety - having good brakes is high on the list for a fast car. Quality subframe connectors are needed at stock power levels, they are required at higher power levels. Same for suspension parts.

If you want a higher power car and drive this on the street regularly I would encourage all of the supporting modifications first and add the power after the support parts are already in place. This will keep your car on the road and you will have the time to dial it in before having more power.

These are just a few thoughts. It is no fun to have a fast car that never leaves the garage. It is a lot of fun to go jump in the car and take a drive whenever you want to.
