I am considering buying a V1 Vortech S Trim, but I only want it if I don't have to buy too much more stuff. My car is a daily driver and I want to keep it that way. How would this supercharger be with the stock MAF, TB, Intake, Heads, Fuel System, ect? I know this may sound stupid but I just don't have the money to get that involved right now. I was just wondering how it would run with everything kept stock. Thanks

it would run just fine with a FMU, with a FMU you can run all your stock stuff... but your fuel pump... i think u need atleast a 190lph

but you would need a new maf and injectors for the upgrade

If this is the stock bolt-on one, then it would work fine. Should come with a FMU so you don't need a real high power fuel system. They only advertise it at 6-7lbs of boost which is fine on all the stock stuff, as far as i know. i will prolly go this route soon.

"but you would need a new maf and injectors for the upgrade"

Did you mean to say not need?

So I just need to look into a FMU and fuel pump?

the FMU is included with the kit... the vortech site says it's just a straight bolt-on

This is the straight up truth!

To Onebad7up:

The kits are engineered for stock motors. You can get an FMU on the cheap if you shop around a little bit. 12:1 is the ratio for stock 19 lb injectors.

I ran a V2 S-trim kit on my totally stock (MAF to oil pan) motor for quite a while with no issue. But soon, I wanted more....

Once you start modding to get more out of your blower, watch out, cause it's a slippery slope!

You need to upgrade your fuel pump no matter what blower kit. The FMU under boost will be raising you fuel pressure to about 70-80psi@ 6psi and the stock 88lph pump can hardly keep up on a stock car when new. A 190 pump is only $80 and a couple hours to replace.

Adding a supercharger is adding one more piece of mechanical equipment to your car that may need repairs and maintenance. I had a Procharger on my '93 Z28 and I loved it. I did however throw a couple of belts and also needed to send the head unit back to ATI for repair when I broke the impeller shaft.

I run a Vortech V1 myself and so far it's been very reliable and virtually maintenance free. Just keep up with the oil changes. However if you don't have the money to really put that baby to use, i.e. bigger injectors, upgraded fuel system, ignition, heads, cam, custom tuning, etc., then I would advise against it, especially if it's a daily driver. I would rather put the money towards a nice H/C/I combo.

If you dont wanna spend too much money dont get the super charger. Why get it and not wanna up grade anything else? Thats like having a super hott girlfriend and just letting her wear ugly sweatpants all the time because you dont wanna spend the money for her to look good.

I am also getting a Trick Flow R U/L Intake for 90mm TB and some aluminum Canfield heads that flow 300cfm, along with the kit. I did not want to put all of i on right now because I don't want to buy all the other stuff like bigger injectors, MAF, 90mm TB, etc. That just seems like too much for my stock bottom right now. I have never even heard of a 90mm TB. Could I fit a smaller TB on the Intake?

Should I just hold onto this stuff and wait until I do everything or should I put the supercharger on my stock motor for now?

I had a supercharger on my last motor. (notice I said last motor) I to always wanted one and read on here and the corral about people that had them and no problems. Some said its a bolt on and go and for some that was true, But not for everybody. When you figure in all the additional parts you may need, supercharging is not a cheap add on. If you have a savings account with atleast 1500.+ "after you buy the blower and must have parts " for possible mishaps then do it. Ya never know, ya might be one of the lucky ones and have no issues. Remember though...Boost is like a drug..VERY ADDICTIVE. After awhile you will want more and before you know it.. BOOM now your daily driver is sitting in the garage not going anywhere anytime soon. But hey...thats just my experiance.

That is what I was thinking. Once I put it on I will start buying more and more parts to make it faster. I guess I should just wait until I am in a better situation to do it.

If it were me, I would wait untill you have extra $$ but like I said, That was just my experiance with the other side. I had $$ saved up for a new paint job but ended up having to have another motor built instead and lucky for me, it wasnt a daily driver. You have to take what everybody says with a grain of salt.
