Figured I'd get jumped on like that. I won't even try to retaliate because I know you are all to close minded to understand it, like many americans today. I have a much different moral code than most ppl, and I know most don't/won't accept it, so all i'll say about the whole thing is that I believe he is a man who fought for his ppl, and fought for what he believed in.

well, until you spend some time over seas (and no I dont mean on vacation in a tourist town), and get to see first hand what men like him do to "their people".... you dont really know. you might think you do, because of what you have read in books, or seen on tv, but trust those of us who have been there, "**** aint like that" (ice T)

IMHO the only real difference between the two is that Arafat was focused on just the country of Isreal instead of trying to wipe out the whole Jewish race accross the globe. Well, that and he didn't have anywhere near the war machine that Hitler was able to build, mostly because of the watchfull eye that was on him from the moment he came into power.

So far all i have heard is "blah blah bad guy, killed alot of people blah blah". So you can compair him to Hitler all you want all day long, though Hitler was a vary bad guy, he was also one of the greatest military minds of all time. There is no way to argue that. Yeah he killed alot of people, but like someone said earlyer, he took a country that was vary poor, and created one of the single most powerful countrys ever, in a vary short time. He was a increadable public speaker, i can defintly say that he didn't us the word "um" as many times as a certan texan i know of. Oh now you all can sit here and bash me all you want for that one, i don't care. The bottom line of this whole thread is does it really matter id Arafat was gay, NO, if he was does it mean he had AIDS or HIV, NO. If he did have AIDS or HIV, does that make him a bad person, NOMaby someone should look at the center for deises control's web site, White Males between 18 and 29 are the most AIDS or HIV infected people on this planet. So maby that sould teach someone something.

Ok, i have just got to respond here. I have been reading this thread and it is almost making me sick. Those of you that defend people like Arafat and Hitler in any degree are insane. You say that Hitler brought a bankrupt country to world domination in a very short time. THe way he brought this about is atrocious. He murdered those that got in his way. You either got behind him or were disposed of. Is it any wonder things changed so rapidly? Arafat was no different. It makes no difference if he was good at something else, he had people killed to further his own selfish desires. To say he fought for his people is a joke. Quit lying to yourselves and wake up. These were lying, manipulating murderous bastards that deserve worse than death. Just because they may have donated money to a local charity does not remove the moral wrongs they have inflicted on others.
Who cares if Arafat was a turd burglar. He's dead and the world is better because of it. Don't fool yourself into thinking you can be intellectually superior because you live by a different moral code. You take a look at those fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Those are the superior ones. They are willing to risk their lives for others. What is greater than this? Would you be willing to do that? I bet not. What cause would you lay down your life for someone elses freedom? If the military would take me, I'd go, but I'm too old. They don't want me, believe me I tried. So quit defending them and defend our great nation and those that fight for it, for you, and your right to speak your mind.

Don't fool yourself into thinking you can be intellectually superior because you live by a different moral code. You take a look at those fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Those are the superior ones. They are willing to risk their lives for others. What is greater than this? Would you be willing to do that? I bet not.

I don't believe I ever said in any way that I thought i was intellectually superior, or superior in ANY way actually. Where you got that notion I am not sure of, but you might wanna double check your reading. Also I fully support our troops all over the globe, AND I am currently enlisting in the military. Don't tell me how you think I act, especially since you have never met me.

The notion of intellectually superior thought is from my experience with those that analyze situations and people like Hitler and Arafat. They seem to put aside their acts of terroism while saying they did good things. I may have misinterpreted your meaning, and if I did, I apologize. If not, then you need to re-evaluate your view of these people. They do not do any good unless it will benefit themselves. This is an important point to understand. Arafat would not have done any of the "good" things he did unless it had a posistive effect on himself directly. They are selfish, sick, murderous bastards.

I would like to say that i never said that eather one of them did "good" things. I said they were good leaders. So you can talk as much crap about me as you want to. I never said that they were good people, just good leaders. Oh yeah and i would also like to point out that this all started from my end by me saying that it was vary tacky and sad that there was a thread like this started right after the man had died. I really don't care how anyone feels about the man, but atleast realize, he was human, it really doesnt matter if he was gay or anything like that. I fully support all of our troops, in fact my best freind spent 8 months in iraq, I fully support our goverment, i may not like bush, but i support him. I really think he needs to spend a little more time on things here at home, I am afraid if he doesn't things are going to get vary bad here. Thats all i have to say. I never said they were "good" people Like Fester, simply said that they did well in leading their people (though I'd like to play devil's advocate sometime and argue both sides on that point , they both had their positive traits and their negative traits like any other human). I was more or less raised in a Palestinian family, so I'm sure I have absorbed many of their views, which I know some find a little obscure. Btw, thx for the apology!
