Is Gear Noise in the Vortechs normal?

My charger is out of the car right now. I called and ordered the new mounting bracket and all, but I thought of one more question. If you spin te pully right now having no oil in it, you can hear a gear noise. Its sounds like a sold ticking but it is the gears doing it, is this normal?

What model do you have? On my V1 you can hear a definate gear noise by spinning the pulley by hand.

every vortech i have heard is obnoxiously loud.

Yeah if my SQ V2 was any louder I would shoot myself.. I am sooooo glad I didin't buy the V1..

I would call the support people at Vortech and ask. My Novi 2000 was completely silent when I turned it before my installation and the only SQ Vortech I've seen was also silent...
