Is it hot or normal?

I just installed a contour on my 88,my concern is it fine or hot when my stock temp gauge is dead in the middle when stopped in traffic and Im in florida(not sure if they read right from the factory).

Half way is ok. And no, the stock gauge is not very accurate.

As noted, the stock guage is not accurate enough to draw any conclusions from. I would get another means of measuring temperature in place.

What t-stat do you use? Does the gauge drop when the car is on the highway?

I have a new oem t-stat 185 I think and yes it dose drop on normal crusing.

OEM would be closer to 195*F.

What are the on/off temp settings for the fan?

If there is a noticeable drop in temp while at speed, the controller might be set too high or the fan is not flowing enough air for one reason or another.

Stock gauge is completely inaccurate.....


But according to my automated gauge, the middle would be overheating on my car. At 190 degrees on my autometer, my stock gauge is around the A

But yes, highly inaccurate way to tell. It's why I got an auto meter
