Well ive had my mach1 for about 10k miles now. Only conplain i have is the clutch. I gave it 2000 miles to break in and now it seems REAL soft. Most of the driving i do is light but i do like to open it up every now and then. Its seems like everytime im a little bit hard on the thing, the pedal gets a little soft so i pull on it to adjust it. The pedal feels springy and the clutch engagement is late and soft. What it really doesnt like is when i launch it. Ill just be on the streets wanting to just open her up from a stop, after the clutch just doesnt feel the same. Tonight i opened it up and shifted a little hard and got 3rd gear scrath, now the clutch feels really worn. I drive VERY easy most of the time, its just if im hard on it AT ALL itll feel softer. WTf is going on here? I thought this thing was made to drive a little hard?

Thats because you have a very direct clutch feel with Fords cable operated design. When a clutch gets hot it feels/ingages different.

Try driving a 1998-2000 LS1 F-Body. Those clutches/hyd. were junk sometimes during hard shifts the clutch will just stay stuck to the floor. GM put a screen in the hyd. system to prevent driveline shock.

That doesn't sound right. My stock clutch never did any of the things you list and always grabbed fairly hard (until I broke it that is). Have you had the deaeler look at it?

Installing an aftermarket clutch cable with an aluminum quadrant and firewall adjuster will allow you to adjust the clutch to feel exactly like you want - but, it can't correct a dud clutch from the factory . . .

Mine worked fine until it blew apart at 8500 miles.

dont know if it is the same but my stock GT clutch always felt spongy too especially have 2 or 3 good hole shots , it would just get worse with heat it seemed , let the car sit overnight and when it got cold it would hook again .....

I know just what you are talking about but it really isn't a bad clutch. I have 80+ passes and 16,000 miles and it's holding up for now. But I also get a bit of a spongy feel after I drive it hard for a bit.

My clutch sucks big time too. When we bought the car, they replaced the clutch but didnt turn the flywheel at the same time, so I think this is part of the reason, but its the same way. It sucks cold, then it gets ok and then after it heats up, it sucks again. Im sick of it and it seems like it chatters all the time. Anyone know what I should do?
