Allright guys, you gotta help me on this one.

All of a sudden, my car has developed somewhat of a surge on top end when I have it "hammered." So far, I've eliminated any possible vacuum leaks. My next try was going to be a new fuel filter. If that didn't help, I was going to pull the plugs out of it and see if I had some fouling or a "wet" cylinder, and replace them (plugs).

Does anyone have any idea about this? Am I on the right track? Could it possibly be the throttle position sensor going bad and not actually telling the computer that it is at WOT??

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Not really a bucking surge, but rather when I have it hammered, I can actually barely back off the throttle a bit, and the car will rev quicker, like it used to. Kinda like a carbeurated car that is way rich on top end......

your TPS may be misrigged or may have a dead band in the potentiometer. Also may be a tuning/timing issue with the ECU. Time to go to a dyno/tuner if all else fails.

I've heard those things tend to go south quite often. Think I'll drag out the voltmeter and check it......and get a new one anyway.

Thanks Dan. I've pretty much ruled out the timing and tuning issue, due to the fact that it just started it suddenly, and used to run like a scared child up to this point.

I would love to do the dyno tune and rid myself of the chip in case it has actually gone bad (which is always possible). The problem is, we don't have the facilities around here to dyno tune......god I wish we did......

Guess I could always go with the PMS system and remedy alot of problems, but that's alot of dough to fork over.......
