Is it possible to paint my cobra r's?

I cant stand my cobra r's. They are polished aluminum and they suck. They take hours to get close to alright looking and then they are black after 10ft of driving. So since I hate polishing them and they get black so fast is it possible to paint them black and be done with it?

What do I need to paint them?
Will it look good or crappy?
Will it require a clear coat?
No doubt I'll have to take the tires off before painting but what other prep-work is required (remember they are polished aluminum)

I probably will have some more q's but this is a start,

Why are they getting so black.....mmmm cheap brake pads.. Buy some ceramic high qulity brake pads and watch your black dust fade away. Plish them up and have them powder coated clear, or try the zoop aluminum seal.
Then thye stay looking good for a long time. If you really want to paint just sand them good eveywhere, and clean all the dirt and grease off, and paint them with a quality automotive paint..

Ok here is what I know from painting.. Your going to have to scuff the wheels up.. I would us either some scotchbrite (green) or 600 grit sand paper.
But first clean them, and clean them and then clean them again. You should go thru 1 bottle of simple green per wheel before you start anything..

There is this stuff from Home Depot called Crud Cutter that is very good.. after they are clean and scuffed shot a coat of ecthing primer for the best adhesion to the wheels.. Once that is done then shoot them any color you feel and then clear them.

I work at sherwin williams and am going to say what I would use from our store. But there may be someting better out there.

Id sand them down with some 400 grit sand paper, then come back with some 600. Then clean them with the Krud Kutter stuff mentioned above, then we have a primer called XIM Bonding primer. It comes in spray cans but I am NOT sure how it holds up to heat so you might want to look into that. Ill try to remember to pull up a data page on it at work tomm. Then go over it with some good high heat automotive paint and clear coat then wet sand it to get the finish you want.

Sorry, no cheap pads on my ride. Maybe you missed my sig but to clarify Im running Cobra R 13in Slotted 4 piston caliper Brembo's with Brembo pads upfront, and slotted 11in Brembo rotors with Brembo pads (stock calipers b/c the damn company wont make rears for our cars...).
Oh and I drive my car like I stole it so that adds to the excessive dust build up.
