is motorcycles immune to exhaust noise tickets?

Why is it that the local police or CHP harasses me constantly with my car exhaust noise, yet these Harleys or choppers that deliberately exaggerate the noise go by unnoticed? Sundays is a big Bike day out here in SoCal and I see groups of bikes go past police all the time with no reaction.

Yes, I've heard that one. So if the police recognize that, why wouldn't it be the same for my car? I've used the same thing to make people aware of my presence as well.

good question, wish I had an answer.

...not much protection around ya on a scooter, so loud pipes are tolerated. Being a rider myself, I'm ok with it!
