is my car totalled... take a look

well when the insurance company totals a car, that means that the cost to repair the car is more expensive than the value of the car. I'd say that all the work that needs to be done to your car should be around 1000. Is your car worth that much? If not, it will probably be totalled. You can keep the car and fix it yourself, however. There are many parts for your car and you can get it done for cheaper than 1000 dollars. Good luck.

thanks for the reply, the car is a ex 4 banger auto so i'm not sure how that works with the insurance company. its not goin through my insurance company its goin through the guys who hit the block into the highway's company.. so that could be a good thing i guess..i may get enough for that paint job i've been wantin..

Insurance companies dont go off of if the damage is more than the value of the car. Depending on the company, if the damage is 60%-75% of the value of the car, then they total it. So even $2000 worth of damage can total a mustang. Besides insurance companies dont like these cars and will do anything to get them off the road.

Dude go to the local salvage yard, find a fender, and front bumper off of another stang i bet it will be $400 at the most. Just get the paint code off the door and buy the blue paint and do it yourself its no biggy trust me I fixed mine and I was alot worse ( had to install a new 1/4 panel, lots of fun  ).And when you take the front end off check for frame damage if there is none you should be in the clear. But if you do have frame damage it could possibly be totaled that stuffs expensive.

I'd say with the cost of repainting the car and the price of parts, it's gonna be close. If your insurance will cover it, take a check instead of having it fixed, and get it fixed yourself. You should be able to find someone to do it cheaper than they'll pay their body shop to do it, and you'll end up with cash in your pocket.

It doesn't take much to total one of these cars. A slight fender bender will do it. I just looked up the blue book on my 89LX 5.0 hatch. In good condition it is only worth $1600. In excellent condition it is worth $1900. Sorry to hear about your troubles. Good luck.

once they total it there are two options....you can buy it back from the insurance company for a decent price or they can cut u a check and they take posession of the car....you cant do both. U cant have them cut u a check and then go and fix the car without buying it from them. sorry to hear bout that dude

That is what I am thinking. Get the parts, replace them yourself. You may even find the right color. At worst, you can have it painted.

I would buy it from the insurance company.

Just my opinon, but if my friend was driving I would just see if he would pay for the fix. Like some of the others have said, prob 4-500 tops, and it would save him a ton on his insurance. Just my thoughts on the situation.

its not my insurance thats payin,or my friends, its some other dudes.. and i have a fender, a bumper cover and all the lights to fix. I'll have to do some body work on the fender and sand the cover, but i do have ALL the parts just sittin in the barn.

i have totalled a GT before( see sig ) i was able to buy it from the insurance company for 650 and then i sold the car for 1300 so that was cool.

i thinkin what most of you are........buy it back and fix it my self....then use the check for a paint job.

at least my mach 1 hood is ok..
well see....
