Is the Cobra IRS available as a bolt-on for other Stangs?

It's a direct bolt-in, if you're in good cardiac health you can go ask your local dealer how much it would cost to just buy an SVT cobra IRS. The live axle is better for drag racing and can be made to tear up the road courses with the right parts and the right information and skills. Stick with the live axle, the cobra IRS is a compromise made to fit in a chassis never designed for an IRS.

i just got the IRS in my car... lemme tell... HUGE DIFFERENCE... still getting used to taking turns this fast :)

might have to get some new seats... and mind you - this is only stock IRS stuff... imagine how far i can go with all suspension options i have

Itll be ridiculously expensive probably to buy that suspension outright from a dealer.

However, from time to time Cobra guys want to trade for a live axle, or Im sure you could find a guy to trade with some cash supplement on your part. As noted above, you can beef up your current suspension and it will handle fine unless you really are tracking the car much.

StreetStang03 - Thanks for the link and sig link - I see you on here and never really mention my appreciation, but its there.

I'm not looking to race on the strip, just auto-x and open track. Using only 275s is not a problem in that case.

The real question, though, is what is the relative liveability/streetability of the IRS vs. various tuner stuff as the Steeda 5-link and the torque-arm/panhard combo?

no problem Chris. you guys do a great job at mustangtuning. awesome products, best prices and fast shipping. :flag: keep it up :)

having drove a couple cobras, and one GT with a steeda 5-link...the cobra IRS is crap compared to it...you'd be better off with a full 5 link! esp. for auto cross...

with that said, if you already have a cobra IRS, Kenny Brown makes some awesome suspension upgrades for it, and you can have a wicked IRS setup through them. They'll even re-valve your shocks/struts to match your current drop and everything else.

for what price tho...

FRPP catalog list entire IRS set up. Its assload of money tho. And it also atates that other safety equipement is needed as well.
If your going to stick with dragrace, then I say keep your stickaxle. but if your going for roadrace, then IRS is good choice, although Steeda 5 link may be more economical solution
