Is there an oversized oil filter?

I was wondering if there is another oil filter that fits 5.0 cars (93 5.0 in particular) that's larger than the stock replacement?

I used to used a larger truck filter on my Camaro and I use a larger filter on my current car as well.

Is this an option for 5.0 cars or did Ford not have any other vehicles w/larger filters that also fit 5.0 cars?

I don't know of any oversized filters for the 302. Why would you want one? If you are looking for some extra protection, K&N makes a 302 oil filter. It's like $10.

Just want the piece of mind of having a larger filter on there. That would be better than the stock size of course.

I know K&N makes filters. That's not what I am looking for, but thanks.

You can get kits to run dual oil filters.

What maverick said is probably the next best thing. The FL1A is a fairly large filter for a gas engine. If you spend about 35-50 for the dual filter, that will give you some extra oil capacity.

Another interesting idea is called a bypass filter. It takes a small quantity of engine oil a high pressure and filters it down to a very fine level. This combined with oil tests can all but eliminate oil changes :according to the propaganda.

Amsoil is one company that makes a bypass kit. I have considered one because I have an expensive diesel that I want to last for a long long time.

oversized filter desired. LMAO. the stang filter is one of the bigger gasonline filters out there. some of the filters for some of the family's cars - yes those need a bigger filter. not a stang. LOL.

Mav and Hllon are right about the bypass filter. ive read about them on oil forums and people seem to like them a good bit. seems like diesel guys are more prone to use them (likely for the reason Hllon said).

Filters are cheap - don't worry about a bigger one; simply screw a NEW one on more often. If you change your oil every 3000, put a new filter on at 1500. If you change it less often than that (say synthetic at 6000 mile intervals), put a new filter on at 3000. That's the approach I take with my wife's car - manufacturer specifies synthetic. The car calls for oil/filter changes every 10-12K; I change it every 6K, but put a new filter on every 3K.

I guess I don't understand why you want a bigger filter, yet you won't consider a hi-po filter as an alternative? Either way, yes, my Stang filters are quite a bit larger than the filter for my 5.2L Grand Cherokee filter. Do you use the magnetic pick-up things to get any metal particles?

You should be happy about the size of yours cause on 94-95 Cobras and all mod engines, they switched to the shorter version of that filter which is about half the size of it!

Purolator makes a smaller filter that fits for those of you with sandwich adapters who might need a bit more room.
