I acquired a electric fan controller off of a 2007 Ford 500 and am trying to figure out how to use it other applications. I attached a pic below of the controller. I am trying to figure out how to use it with a Mark VIII fan in my Explorer Sport Trac. I think it works similarly to the DCC controller, but I don't know.
It is a small Bosch-made box that is mounted between the radiator and the fan shroud that is variable speed. It has 2 outputs to the fans spliced to 4 (500 has dual fans) and it has has 3 inputs, a large gauge black and large gauge red (+ and -), and then it also has small green wire that is probably about 8 gauge.
I got the schematics on it and the positive is connected directly to the battery, black grounded obviously, and then the only thing it tells about the green wire is that it goes to the brain. Now I have talked to a few others more knowledgeable in wiring and stuff than me, and the general consensus is that it has to be a 0-5 volt resistance sender which changes the speed of the fan.
Now back to my question, is there such thing as a variable resistance temperature sender? Or does anybody have any other ideas?
