After I tightened mine down too tight a year or so ago, the hairline crack that resulted has been leaking a little ever since so I wanna throw on a new one without breaking the bank. Just wondered if any one has any experience with this piece or similar.

Also curious. I'm not wild about the other two common alternatives, but I don't know about the Mr G version. Bump.

Don't buy it!
I have had two of them and they both leaked like a sive! I tried RVT, two gaskets nothing worked. It was a waste of money.
Buy a stock one and polish it.
You pay shipping and I'll give them both to you.

I got mine from NAPA for like 9 bones. Its not as pretty buts its very robust looking. It looks tougher then the stock unit. I found nothing but horror stories about chrome jobbers.

I think we're (or atleast I) am wondering if the Mr Gasket is different than the FRPP chrome one. We all know the FRPP ones leak and the parts store cast units rust. He's lookin for an alternative (I Think).

Yes Hissin, I have heard the bad things about the chrome ones. I was led to this one because Advance did not have any, summit's cheapest was 100 bucks or so, and that is really all I checked. Pretty much i dont care what it looks like ( I can bead blast and paint it myself) I just want it to not leak and not cost an arm and a leg.

Get the stock cast piece and just have it either powder coated, chromed, or ceramic coated. It's such a small part it'll cost ya a maximum of 30 - 50 bucks, plus it wont rust anymore (ceramic coating) , and it looks good.

I have the same one and it did warp and leak. But I used one full gasket and then the bottom half of a second gasket and it's fine. No leaks for 2000+ miles.

i had a ford racing chrome housing and that thing leaked like there was no tomorrow. i ended up just giving it away.

So are you guys saying get one from the dealer or can I get a stock one from a parts place somewhere. I checked advance and they dont stock them. Where can I get one for cheap that wont leak!

Nm, Advance does not carry them, but Autozone has one for 7 bucks!

The AZ version is what I have (though I paid 10 bucks). Be sure to paint it because it rusts.
