Nothing on the basic OASIS that points to it being a Roush. I ran a 2015 Roush last month and the VIN did specify it was a Roush, not sure if they did for the older ones.

Owner is stating it's a genuine roush.he is the second owner and he has done a lot of work to it. However, I want to make sure this car is an actual roush and not a replica. It has badging in the engine etc but it missing a lot of key points like front bumper, pedals, gauges etc. We agreed on 17500.

I'd call Roush and see if they keep track of their VIN's

You need to call Roush on this. Roush doesn't have this vin on their web site. The vin number comes back to a 2008 GT Deluxe that sold for $26,240 on the window sticker. I may be wrong but I think its a clone

Roush and Shelby both have done "post-sale" conversions in addition to the cars that are taken straight to them from the factory before going to the dealership.

You could (and can) buy a new Mustang, and then take it (or have it shipped) to Roush or Shelby to be upgraded to whatever model/spec you want by them.

This doesn't make it a fake Roush or fake Shelby, it just means it wasn't one when sold new at the dealership, it became one later. The only way the VIN will reflect it, however, is by contacting Roush or Shelby directly, as Ford doesn't have any way of keeping track of what cars were done after the fact.

(I know this thread is specifically about a Roush, I just put the Shelby stuff out there too because I've run into it at work.)

Still seems like a decent deal if the other details are in line (Condition, miles, etc.)

I had to do some heavy editing. I did some searching and it looks like it is likely legit. I would see if the car was ever salvaged or had frame damage to make sure this wasn't a situation where somebody rebuilt one car to make it look like another in order to flip it, though.

Also- that Roush badge on the car above the condenser (in front of the ABS) should have a unique ID number. Roush would be able to tell you what car that motor should be attached.

Specs for the 427R are listed here:

http://www.roushperformance.com/blog/2006/09/more-horsepower-unleashed-with-new-roush-427r-mustang/ (looks like a match with this style)
