When starting the motor is it normal that it slowly turns over even when the battery is hooked up to another car? I thought it usually cranks over really fast.

Usually a slow turn over is a low battery, was the other car running and revving a little?

The other car was running and I had also revved it up too. When turning over the motor without spark does it turn over really fast?

check your battery and ground connections. remember, even if you have a reactor hooked to the battery, if the current cant get into the battery and out to where it needs to go (connections), it will crank slow.

you can use jumper wires to enhance the existing cables for testing purposes.

good luck.

my car did that.. turned over pretty slow with a fresh charged battery. go out and buy a new positive battery cable, and get it in a bigger size, like 0 guage, or something larger then the stock.. helped out ALOT. my engine turns over and starts alot faster due to more current flow

Just food for thought...I had the same problem. I went out and dropped a wad on a optima battery, and it still cranked slowly. Also changed pos and neg cable. No help. Finally, figured out it was the starter. The thing cranks fast now, at a high pitched whine.

blk92, good point. to add to your sentiments, dont overlook the starter cable. they degrade. a DMM can do wonders.
