I bought a new switch off ebay but the arm is kind of burnt. My old one is fine, is it possible to just switch over the piece to the other multi function switch? If so, how? The screws they use are not normal to take it apart, its like a star with a point in the middle...
I'm pretty sure it can be done but there is some small spring loaded parts and clips and stuff like that and they will probly go every witch way you don't want them too. Might be a huge pain in the bum bum<---lol. I
You could also opt for a 90-93 multi-function switch....those tend to be much "newer" looking. All you need to do is change two pins on the connector to make it work. The added advantage is that the 91-93 arm is a tad longer, which makes it so much nicer when hitting your signals.
Never taken on apart, but you will need a T-10 security torx bit. An option might be to punch out the roll pin where the stalk inserts into the socket, but I'm not sure how the wiring is hooked up to the delay switch. You would probably end up having to take the thing apart anyway. Experiment on the bad one and see it it's worth the trouble.
You can get the bit at Autozone for a couple of dollars.I used one to remove my ignition switch in the column.If you're going to sand the plastic,use 1000 to 1500,to 2000 and follow up with a little Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish and it'll shine like a new penney.
