Its about that time!

Well its about that time to store my vehicle for the winter. I tried to hold off for so long but unfortunatly its getting way too cold. Had a few questions about storing.
First question , Would it be better to drain all Fuel out of my gas tank rather then filling it all the way up and mixing in some fuel stabilizer? I have heard People ask me if i am going to drain the liquids out of my car, as well as some asking about stab-il.
Second question, I am planning on taking off my Boss 20" wheels to put on the stocks for storage. I already have gotten a wierd squeek to the front right wheel. I am curious will this cause more squeeks down the road?
Thirdly i waas curious about decent car covers. Ive purchases some P.O.S. from Farm and Fleet when i bought the car just to have but i think i would like to invest in something alittle nicer.


Also while Christmas IS on its way i am planning on doing some modifications on my vehicle . Exhaust is a must and as well as a CAI from steeda which says it requires a computer reflash? And finally some new suspension. need to lower it.
My question is does the steeda CAI really need a reflash? Also will any of these modifications affect my warrenty. I only have 6500 miles on my vehicle may be something worth having at the time .

Dont know much about the other stuff BUT......, Exhaust, and lowering WILL NOT void your warranty.. now the flash might if its a custom tune, just set your computer back to stock before your take her in ! I have 20,xxx on mine and still have the warranty as well.. I too have a custom tune , and when i take her in to Ford I just reset the tune to stock No Problem

its best to keep a full gas tank, to prevent moisture from accumulating in the tank. I have never tried Stabil, but may do it this winter. a good winter cover will be over $150. get the best you can afford, because the cheap ones wont protect. if you are storing the car outside, be sure to keep the cover tight to the body. use long bungee cords, rope, tape, etc. to prevent the cover from flapping in the wind. wind will tear up the cover faster than anything else.

Yup, Stabil works well. Fill the tank. Leave the car sit. Don't start it if you can help it, and give it a fresh oil change in the spring.

I would keep the tank full as well, but I'd take the car out every two or three weeks for a few laps around the block. Nothing wears out a car faster or a house for that matter that letting it sit unused for long periods. In my opinion.

Not a good idea. First of all, you'll be getting salt all over the car by taking it out. Second, after sitting for a week or more, the engine is completely dry. So you're dry starting it every time, causing more damage than just letting it sit. Third, you're introducing more condensation into the oil. This is a topic that goes round and round, but common sense says that only start it if you plan on doing it more than once a week and letting it get up to operating temp. Otherwise, leave it until spring.

FWIW, My Cobra II has been sitting in a barn for 20 years. Just a little old 2.3L 4 banger, hardly cared for. We brought it home, changed the oil, put fresh gas in, changed the plugs and fuel filter, and it started right up. Granted, it needs a carb rebuild now, but it started right up. Not that I'm saying it's good to leave a car unstarted for 20 years. But had that car been driven twice a month instead of stored, I bet it would have had engine problems by now.
