One of you guys (forgot who) said that there was a 4 door version coming out, and it's here.

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/27/2008-saleen-s331-adds-supercrew-drops-na-engine/

From a styling standpoint, i really like it.
55k, i dunno about dropping that kind of cash, considering the viper truck is still rumored to out run the saleen.

Still no awd or 4wd, which as i said, makes owing a truck worth it.

.....I was the one who mentioned the supercrew S331 coming out a few months back. Is the viper truck awd or 4wd? If memory serves me correctly, the lightning is only offered in 2wd.
.....IMHO, I wouldn't be buying a lightning, ram srt8, silverado SS or the saleen / roush trucks for offroad usage anyways....would you?? They are not made to go play in the dirt or haul heavy loads......Not having the awd or 4wd on this type of truck is fine with me....it would be usless and a waste of money for that option because I would never lift or offroad them in the first place.....just my .02 cents!!

I wouldn't be buying anyone of them myself either.
My point about no awd or 4wd is that in the northeast, you need it, or you might as well be driving a car. Even now they are selling an awd version of alot of other cars up here.
Cold rain, and snow can be treacherous in a rwd vehicle.

If my xp8 wasn't awd, i wouldn't of even bought it. I do love it, but still, i need something that i can get around in, all year long.

I don't see a truck or suv as a garage or trailer queen.
If it was blistering powerful, i could deal with no 4wd, but for something that runs 15 seconds + in the quarter, it might as well be better in bad weather.
IMO be well rounded, or extremely well at something, which the s331 doesn't do. Other than looking very good.

Still, srt8 cherokee owns all in the truck suv performance market.
And buying one of them, definetely goes through my head.

I believe the harley truck with the saleen charger is offered with 4wd, that's a plus.

The Cherokee SRT is cool but the Saleen has 450hp and still can tow over 9000lbs. That's one thing the Cherokee can't do.

The srt8 can tow 3500lb, yea, that's not setting the world on fire, but it's still enough to tow a car. Somehow i don't see saleen owners filling the bed of their truck with gravel and towing farm equipment
It does sound nice to be able to tow 9k, but will anybody actually do it.
I think saleen went after the payload bragging right, because their is nothing else to brag about, other than great looks.

Let's be honest . 99% of people who will buy a 331 or srt/8 don't care about towing capacity. So you can throw the this will tow this, this will tow that stuff out the window. That what powerstrokes and cummins' are for! These are sport trucks, albeit very fast ones'.I just thank detroit for giving us these muscle machines, especially with the prices of oil these days. The times we are living and enjoying performance cars'trump the sixties/early seventies ten fold

Looks nice. But i will keep my '06 Super Crew 4X4. I would be afraid to use it like a truck should be used.

.....Joe,
A uhaul trailer weighs 2500 lbs, subtract that weight and you can tow a car that weighs 1,000lbs?? I'm sure you can find a trailer that weighs less but you get the point. I'll agree that all these "performance" suv/trucks aren't really intended to pull much weight nor will they ever be pulling much of anything!!!!

Good point about the trailer weight, i didn't calculate that in at all.

I don't want to sound like an s331 basher, because i love how it looks, but i just think other than foxbodies, and s351's, saleen hasn't done much that make their vehicles worth the money, other than looks.

You guys crack me up.

Robert, you know better than not to be concerned with not having AWD or even not thinking about it. How many idiots here in So Cal have SUV's with AWD. Meeee! I'm one of those idiots. What, I drive up to Big Bear once a year when it's sunny to show my daughter the snow on the ground? I would have bought the 2 wheel drive model but they wanted to get rid of the one I bought.

They need AWD back east where it snows. For the record, I have driven one of the Jeep Cherokee SRT/8's. She is monster but I wouldn't load bags of concrete in the back.

Does anyone else see something different about the cab design on the new Saleen S331 SuperCrew compared to previous SuperCrew trucks (2004-2007)???

I'm looking at the picture in the link and a picture of my 2007 F150 King Ranch...it looks like the front doors on the Saleen are similar in design to the Extended Cab trucks (longer front door and shorter rear door). Did Ford change the cab design on the '08 models???

Hmmm...gotta look into this because I really like the way that looks!
