What the hell in God's name are you rambling about? A Fusion is better than what? How does this useless, nonsensical, tirade pertain to the picture of the Mustang LarsD posted and is clearly excited about? You seem to have been on these forums for a long time, and help out in a technical sense quite often, but the stuff that comes out of your mouth sometimes... I just don't know.

I going to make friends with your wife, Just in case you do something to piss her off. Then I could swoop in and buy these cars off her for pennies on the dollar

Yeah I wanted a real bright color. Since Ford isn't offering SY or CO on GT's anymore this was the way to go IMO.

I don't care what anyone says, yellow is a terrible, TERRIBLE color for a car. Red was definitely the way to go, man!

screamin yellow always looked badass on the cobra cars IMO, but that pasty white zinc crap they came out with, or whatever it was called...just looked like a faded SY car to me. never understood that. It was to yellow what pink is to red.

Ha ha Carol Shelby once described that color as "God-awful Yellow" and the name of that hue stuck!

It's my Wife's 67 coupe. I'm working on it slowing on the side. Me and a friend trucked up to Dallas in my 91 in late 2010 and snuck it back down to my parents house as an anniversary present for her.

This one is pretty decent. Just a lot of little stuff that needs de-monkeying. It is a no option car with a three speed. My wife can drive stick, but I'm thinking about putting a C4 in it to make it more "cruiser worthy".

My pop was a car dealer. He managed a new and used car lot in Florida for 10 years. He always told me that he always made more on the used car trade-ins than he did on the new cars sold. I don't see a chance in hell that they get their asking price on it, but the one who gets it for $3k less than the asking price will feel like they got a great deal, and so will the dealer...

Just checked clean retail from nadaguides on a '99 Cobra w/ 80k miles: 10,600. Got a similar answer from KBB, too. So yeah, $15k is a stupid high for one.

Yeah I knew they were going to ask a lot for it. Kinda funny when you figure they offered me $8775 for it on the first go round.

Last weekend my wife and I were just window shopping new Hondas. In only about an hour's time, they raised our trade in value 2 grand, and we weren't even TRYING to negotiate. Then, when we got home, we saw the EXACT car we had been looking at on the dealer's website for 3 grand less than the "special offer" they were going to give us when we were there.

The games they play, it makes your head spin!

a dealer is in business to make money, and the Gov. takes about 40 cents on the dollar. So if the car dealer makes 3k gives 1,400 to the gov. pays the salesment 100, now he has made 1,500, minus the cost of the lot building ins. He would be lucky to take out 200-300 from that profit.

The business has always made 4k on a used car. Thats why when you go buy a car you go in with all your info and stick to your guns. I confront them right away with that fact, 80% of the time they wont admit it. If you can do a used for used deal at a dealer and get them to only make 4k on the deal you have done well. 2k on the new car 2k from the used car(your trade will generate). Thats ultra fair. And the reason you should buy from a dealer is because you may return a car to a dealer, and most have 30 day warranties on them. Other then that there is no real reason to buy a used car at a dealer.

This deal with the mustang the dealer made his 4K of your beautiful red 5.0 and will probably make around the same off your 99 cobra. Some idiot will be looking at a used 2008 V6 for the same price and will end up going with the cobra. After he does 3 weeks of research he will find out he overpaid and will move on.

I think your $4k number is definitely on the high side based on the deals my dad would tell me about. There are definitely some variables involved like how long the car has been on the lot, what time of year it is (December is the best time of year to buy, because salesmen are desperate to make deals), how close they are to a monthly incentive, etc... Then again, I acknowledge that the cost of living in different areas of the country would cause a fluctuation in profits.
