Hi, Is it ok to lift the entire front of the car by the cross member / k member to put jack stands under the front? I have limited garage space an can't get the jack arount to both sides. Oh, an do you need engine paint to paint valve covers or is reg paint ok? thanks again!
It will scratch the paint some but on a 15 year old car its probably already scratched up some. That is how I jack up my cars though and no ill effects here.
i use the K member but the jack handle will hit my lower air dam, so i use the subframe conn. usually, also the regular paint will be ok on the valve covers, they dont get that hot, and regular paint holds up pretty well for a while, it might turn bad sooner than heat paint tho but ive seen it done many times
