Do any forum members have the JBA Long Tube Headers with the JBA High Flow cats installed? I'm very interested in installing their whole setup from Headers all the way back.

Thanks in advance.

i have the long tube headers with the catless h-pipe and i think it sounds awesome. Loud as hell when you get on it but not bad below 3000 rpm. But i also have the SLP loudmouth exhaust on. If i had a mufflered exhaust it wouldnt be as loud and i would probably get on it more often.

I call BS here!

if you had headers with a catless h-pipe and the slp kit you would know that the car sounds like crap cause i ran like this for about a week and it is god awful loud!

not to mention that it lost over 25hp on a dyno!

why would it lose horsepower? Because of no cats or because of no mufflers? All the people that have listened to my car actually like the way it sounds, they think it sounds mean as hell.

I was hoping for some good details about fit and finish, difficulty of installation, dyno numbers, overall sound quality and loudness compared to stock.

Please be more specific than "It sounds mean as hell."

I believe in the last issue of 5.0 Mustangs, they had a review on JBA long tubes and had a dyno. Not positive but I will check tonight.

Yeah, I read that article, but they decided to use the off-road H-Pipe with no Cats. Not really the way I want to go.

what you described is an open header setup therefore no backpressure! without at least some back pressure these mod motors do not run right. When I had this setup I thought it sounded awesome except for about 1000 rpm where it was raspy as hell and sounded like an overgrown ricer. Are you sure you are running headers no cats and no mufflers?

i dont have any before dyno #s but i have after dyno #s. Fit and finish is top notch in my opinion. Installation took me 10 hours by myself without having the right tools. With the right tools and with help five hours shouldnt be too far off. Soundwise its deep, loud, and obnoxious as hell when you get on it, and when i get to work my ears are numb for about an hour. Its just hard to describe how it sounds untill you hear it. There are a ton of mustangs where i live cause it seems like every G.I. has one with at least exhaust and i have yet to hear one sound as loud as mine. And having worked at the local 1/4 mile track i have yet to hear one as loud as mine. As for power gains even my tuner said my numbers would be higher if i had more back pressure but i cant really say i felt a difference going to long tubes from stock manifolds. Maybe i should put some cats on to find out. BTW my numbers were 259 horse and 270 torque on a mustang dyno.

you will see a huge gain if you put on some flows or just some non straight through mufflers. I am running the same setup as you except I have flowmasters on and it sounds mean as hell and is still plenty loud.

I was planning on using the Long Tubes, High Flow Cats and Mufflers. I'm hoping somebody has a similar setup?

I should have some info for you soon, XLeatherNeck. My car is at the shop having JBA Long Tubes and H-Pipe with cats installed (among other things), and I have Bassani mufflers on already. I should have her back any day. Unfortunately, I will only have after dyno numbers that will also include CAI, charge motion control plate deletes, electric water pump, and a head p&p, along with a couple of supporting mods (injectors, 90mm MAF housing, HD motor mounts).

I'll post up the numbers and my impression of the sound level/quality change once I get her back.

I have the JBA longtubes, no cats, and Borla setup. I have been thinking of switching to flowmaster or magnaflow because I'm unhappy with the Borla/No cat combo.
The Borla's were great with all the rest stock, but with the no cats and longtubes I can hear the air flowing through the Borla's and it sounds like I have a leak somewhere. I was thinking if I switched to a bigger muffler that actually muffles more it will sound normal.
Also, do you think with the tiny Borla's, I'm losing HP with not having enough backpressure?
My dyno was 276rwhp.
I've always thought I should be around 300 with longtubes, no cats, Borlas, JLT, and SCT.

From what I have seen on my car and several others straight through mufflers work great with stock cats and headers but they are not that great with no cats and headers. I had the SLP kit on and loved the way it sounded until I put comp cats on my car then it sounded like crap and lost tons of power. The best sounding system I have used is jba long tubes catted-x and flows or bassani mufflers.

Because you can't do anything to these cars without a new tune. Hell adding charge motion plates looses HP but with a tune you get like 17rwhp and 8rwtq. It's all in your research, check with some local shops, national shops etc. Take everything you read on the boards with a grain of sault.

You should be higher with your mods, that's what my car dynoed bone stock. Check your tune, if you have a canned tune it might benefit you to get a actual tailoered tune for your car..

I don't have JBA's, but I do have the Stainless Works 1 3/4 longtubes, 3" hi-flow cays, Bassani x-pipe and Flowmaster axle-back installed on my car. The sound IMHO is perfect with no drone. Like others have said, getting mximum benefit from the set-up will require a retune.

Backpressure, Smackpressure. You cant say that an "open header" setup (with Loudmouths) will drop you power with a good tune until you've done it. Your opinion lacks any backup material Joshman.
