Im looking to buy a JLT CAI system for a 00 gt, but I was also wondering about the RAI system they have. Is one better than the other and why???

i got the CAI after reading the Kenne Bell article... and honestly it does make sense and i dont see where cooler air would be coming from w/ a "ram air" intake...

just look on the JLT website and look at the dyno charts, that was the MAIN thing that made me get the cold air. 8whp on a bone stock gt and near 20whp at redline...

I have the JLT RAI and like it. There are pros and cons to both and if you are just staying NA then it doesn't really matter. I didn't want a bend after the MAF and there is less risk(albeit not much) of water/debris with the underhood setup. Also, easier access than a filter sticking in the fenderwell.

I understand the Kenne Bell article, but from personal tests once my car is moving the IAT drops down to almost the outside temp anyways. I take the headlight out at the track and then it becomes the RAM air, which helps get more outside air in there.

Those are just my thoughts...

CAI's are pretty worthless. You won't gain more than 5 to the wheels. Just save your money for gears. Or drop in a K&N filter for $50 .

I chose a fenderwell kit for my car but not a JLT, I went with a www.Demolet.com CAI. Both companies are good.

I already have 4.10's and the K&N. It's a toss up between a cat back system to get started on the exhaust or a CAI right now.

go for a high flow mid pipe, that will get you better gains then a catback and cai combined...your in florida so you can get one with no cats.

well now days im hearing that the CAI is making more power....but I know for a long time, JLT didnt offer the CAI for the GTs because it wouldnt make any power. Apparently it makes power now....but im VERY VERY happy with my JLT RAI.

I also made a custom ram air thing that blows outside air directly on the filter....it works so good infact that pulling the headlight didnt help at all at the track. Normally pulling the headlight gains about 1MPH. And my filter is ALWAYS dirty where the ram air blows on it(black spot there too)....even a few days and stuff will fall out of the filter. A few months, and it leaves like a pile if you shakes out lol.

Anywho, most CAIs are pretty worthless....but IMHO the JLTs are not...And for $150 for the RAI, its pretty cheap.
