I finished the installation of the JME six gauge cluster this week. I used the Autometer Colbalt series gauges, I liked the 270 degree sweep of the gauges. I used electric rather than plump the oil line into the car. This speedometer is electronic and required the use of a VSS in order to function. I thought this might be a problem since my GearVendor overdrive also requires a VSS of sorts. As it turns out all I had to do was remove the speedo cable and replace it with the new VSS and the end of the GearVendor unit.

There is a photo of the unit installed in the dash at the bottom of this page at this link, http://www.cardomain.com/ride/597572/1

I had some problems getting the bezel to fit correctly. The dash had been cut to accept a different radio at some point in the past, I had the repair plate welded in when the bodywork was being done. The plate fits over the existing dash and thus the recessed groove in the dash becomes a little narrower as a result. So the JME bezel would not lay flat against my dash, a call to JME and a consultation with Julio was all it took to figure out what to do. I used clay to create a model of the opening and a file to reshape the bezel, about 30 minutes of trial and error and it fits fine now.

I will take a ride this afternoon to calibrate the speedo, I will finally be able to see what kind of drop in engine speed occurs when using the overdrive unit, and be able to get some idea of what kind of mileage I'm getting.
