thats pretty cool...i nver knew that.....how much better are they than the 2:73's?...how many tenths u think they'rem worth in the 1/4 vs. the 2:73 gear????
They're pry worth at least a tenth over the 2:73's, and mine has 3:08's as well.
I'd still look to upgrade to 3:73's or steeper gears. I got to ride in a 94 GT last nite with same mods as me except 3:73's, and mine feels very sluggish now.
yea...thats sweet....i was reading in another post that a guy in a notch switched out his 2:73's for 3:08's and chirped the tires in 1st gear even not giving it a lotta gas, and the same was happening to me.....so i jacked up the car today and put a piece of tape on the drive shaift, and on the tire, spun the tire 1 full rotation, and the drveshaft went around a little over 3 times......3:08!!!
Someone a while back posted the VIN codes to tell you what gears came with your car from the factory. Mine also have the 3.08s.
I agree, they are better than 2.73s. But don't be satisfied with those. They are only a 13% bump up from the 2.73s. 3.73s are 21% more aggressive ratio than the 3.08s and 37% more aggressive than 2.73s.
Better yet, don't fear the gear and put in some 4.10s!!! (50% pop over 2.73)
trust me...I AM NOT AFRAID OF THE GEAR....i'd put in 4:10's in a heartbeat....its my dad....im only 16 and he doesnt really want me to get into a whole lotta **** for another yr or so, but he gives in really easy so i think its only a matter of time....i think im only going to go with 3:73's tho cause my dd has Moser 4:11's in his 10 sec. chevelle and that was just a recent upgrade for him, so i dont think he'll wanna put 4:10s in my mildly modded car.......
