Sunday, I bought a SCT tuner with custom bama tunes from AM. I got the street tune, performance tune and race tune all in 91 oct, since thats the highest I can find in Cal without going to the race track. All I have is a CAI and exhaust system, so I am not expecting high hp numbers. I will post a full review for anyone who is thinking about the purchase. As of now, the suspense is killing me, its suppose to arrive by either fri or sat.

I think you'll see some good gains from that. My tune from them (back when they did them in-house) took me down the track to the tune of 13.6s @ 103 mph, and that was with just a catted x-pipe & weld-in flows.

I like my bama tune and I like that they give three levels. I usually stay with their "performance tune."

Flghtmstr1....you are saying you trapped 103mph with an x pipe, mufflers and an sct tune? Is that possible?

Yes, it's possible; I did it. I even still had the factory paper air filter (the silencer was removed though). It was in perfect weather, and only 50' above sea level. I was running 245/45R17 all-seasons on the factory wheels. I should probably also mention that my car is an automatic. I could upload the timeslip if you want to see it.

EDIT: Here's the timeslip of the run in question. On this particular run, I only trapped 102.75, but that was due to the better launch. I had been running a string of 13.7s at 103 that day, until I cracked off the 13.6:

Thanks for all the imput. I am pretty excited to see what my some what stock stang will do with just a computer tune. I don't really go to the track too often, but I will definitly let all of you know the seat of the pants gains as well as my future times in the 1/4. I was going to wait to buy the tuner til I got more seat time at the track, but my friend just bought an 09 G8. And i want to beat him,.

Racing in 40 degree weather... Oh how I miss it and want to do it again...NOW.

Sweet times, too. Weather makes a HUGE difference.

Thanks, and I know stock for stock I don't really have a chance unless he falls asleep on the line. I would have thought they were a little faster than that, I mean according to my friend they have about 380 hp. I guess the weight holds the car back.

I just bought this same tuner, I am hoping it'll be here Tuesday or Wednesday. I am getting 4.10s and an O/R Prochamber installed at the same time.

Just a quick little review.

I uploaded the 91 performance tune and what a differance. Not just with a few added hp, but to me throttle response made the tuner worth it. If you are in the market I suggest you definitly take a look at bama. I have work off tomorrow, after 3 weeks of 7 days a week, so i plan on uploading the race tune and cruzing out to the coast. I will follow up this review when I get home.

Awesome man I cant wait to order mine sometime soon. I have the 3.73 gears and my speedometer isnt reading right and I want to get that fixed as soon as possible to keep the cops off me, so far tho I havent been pulled over due to it. *knocks on wood desk*

Update

I uploaded the 91 oct race tune and all I can say is wow. You could tell a differance from the 91 performance tune, but it was not as drastic as changing from stock. The throttle respose is a little more sensitive than the performance tune but not overly. The power comes on right away from idle all the way to the redline, this is a very good and solid tune for the track. Would I DD this tune ? I would but thats because I like the sensitive pedal and aggressive way the car drives now, but I might change in the future back to the performance tune just so I wasn't driving on the edge of my seat all the time. My hat goes off to bama for the great work and I can't believe I waited this long to get a tuner.

One more update

On my 880 mile road trip, I switch through the tunes to see how they effected fuel economy. All numbers are averages of more than one tank of fuel, and all were about the same speed of 70 to 75 mph.

Stock ~ 25 mpg

91 Street ~ 27.5 mpg

91 Performance ~ 29 mpg

91 Race ~ 20.5 mpg

Does your race tune have a launch rev limiter in it? Mine has one at 2500 rpm. That's not much fun on the street, so I am going to ask them to send me a new one without the limiter.
