After driving around in my friends 5-speed cars for the last few months, I realize that the root of all sluggishness is teh automatic transmission, that being said, I just bought a transgo shift kit.

I did a little searching, and I didnt find too much information on installing shift kits. I would like to do it myself cause I would just feel better about it. However, if its too involved then I would rather not. Does anyone have any good links or pics for the installation? If so, I could really use 'em. I cant imagine that installing a shift kit will be too much more involved than a headswap, and I handled that okay...

did it come with the video.. if so follow the video and it will walk you right thru it.

BTW. start saving for a converter ( get a PI 3200) and a trans cooler. in fact get the trans cooler now.

then with the converter and shift kit go rape some 5 speeds.

I have one I'm waiting to install on my '88.. a B&M (bring on the hate responses.)

Anyways, I did one on an old dodge pickup from 79.. it was pretty straight forward. The hardest part was matching up the diagrams included with mine. The diagrams applied to "several different" valve bodies, so basically there was not a direct match to show where the check balls from my valve body went. I did the best I could, but ended up having to take it apart 3 times before it would shift properly. Definately install a drain plug the FIRST time you drop the pan.

Research the J-mod. It's free and really better than a Trans-Go.

Do the J-mod and buy a tranny cooler (the one in my sig is a good one). Read more about the J-mod at tccoa.com.

well from what I've seen and read, those "trans-go" kits are Junk and will cause an early transmission failure. you should just do the "Jerry-Mod" but its your $$
