15psi is low.... but it seems the pump is working fine since you have 55 @ 2000rpm, the HV pumps will show a lot of pressure as soon as you hit the throttle or are moving.

What PT# is the pump, what are your bearing clearances, main, rod, and rod side clearance?

What gauge are you running?

It should be higher than 15 when hot. It should be at around 30 or more even at idle. IMO At least that's what I see on my friend's 351 and 408 engines.

Did you get a better shaft for your pump? Because using a HV pump with the stock shaft will cause the shaft to twist like mofo.

Good God man! That has to be a killer engine! When are you going to test that beast, as soon as the breakin is done? Any numbers yet? Sorry for drooling hehe

Oil? They use Royal Purple or Kendal (sp?) Synthetic 10W40 Forgot which brand they use but it is 10W40

I use 20W50 Castrol oil because my 302 has many miles but I get around 35psi at idle and 45 at 2500 rpm

.030 is a lot of rod side clearance for anything except Aluminum rods. The factory spec is .016-.020. With the new synthetics, the new engines run as low as .010, normally around .012-.014 with steel rods. Some racers are as low as .015-.018 even with aluminum rods when using synthetics. It all depends how much oil you want on the cylinder walls and how much cooling you need on the bearings. For strictly racing .024+ is not out of the question depending on your rods and other clearances.
