Spent all my money on the motor of this otherwise stock 89 lx, since I had the services of an engine builder for free. figured I'd fix what broke first and upgrade as I go along. heres the list:

stock block with main girdle
347ci, forged crank and rods, and KB pistons
RHS 180 aluminum heads built by a local guy with comp, manley bits
1.72rr with a FRPP b303 cam
typhoon intake
75mm pro-m with 30lb injectors
75mm throttle body
equal length shortys, off road x, flowmaster cat back
fluidyne radiator

stock parts:
trans (although it has a hurst shifter)
rear end
brakes
tires
suspension

this car is running great, nice idle, but when you get on it, it revs up unbelievably quick. very little traction to be had. dyno session is coming next week and then a trip to the 1/4. what will I break first?

I voted for the stock t5, but with a stock clutch and stock tires, you might be hardpressed to break anything. Just create smokeshows.

U have a stock clutch? If so I'm betting that's what goes. Nice ride by the way!

Only if it's weld on. Bolt on is worthless. Needs to be zero balanced, too.

t5 is toast! I blew mine to pieces, literally. Had it in my 306 and I was on street and it locked up on me. Had huge pieces in the gears and everything, couldnt get it outta gear to save my life.

T-5, I got tired of breaking them with a mostly stock motor and bought a TKO-600..
