I went to the track yesterday and today. www.noproblemraceway.com
I ran my car with the muffs for the first time which is why I posted this in TECH. I have 3/4 inch headers and a 3 inch H pipe with 2 chamber flows that dump before the rear. This is by no means a quiet system. It was made at some local shop by the previous owner.
What I want to report is an improvement in my 60' and a very slight possibly coindencial increase in my ET.
I normally 60' at 1.70 or a very high and ocassional 1.69. I dont slip, but I have a tight converter that holds me back. I put the previously mentioned muffs on the car because I got tired of being hassled by the local cops. With the muffs I ran a 1.680 60'. This is not a huge improvement, but an improvement. Consistenly I was in the 1.68's all day. My typical ET (LAST YEAR) was low to mid 11.60 at 117-118. I ran 11.68 at 115. The air changed at the track and I dropped from the 68 to an 11.72, but everyone else with a low compression motor did the same.
I had plans to remove the exhaust and run open like I normally do, but the car ran to my satifaction, so I left well enough alone.
Previously I put a 1 foot extention pipe on my header and I slowed 3ths. So I assumed a full exhaust system would be worse.
This was also the first time I raced the car since november of last year!
