When I bought mine it came with glasspacks too... f'n lame... Initially I replaced them with a MAC o/r h-pipe and MAC flowpath cat-back. This setup sounded f'n awesome and mean. However, at the time I was DD'ing the Mustang and I got sick of not being able to hear myself think. Anyways, I then replaced teh o/r h with a Magnaflow catted x-pipe and I actually think the catted x-pipe sounds better. One day I may change out the MAC cat-back for Magnapacks... I <3 magnapacks

When I get around to it I'll probably just end up going with a Flowloser catback and probably just keep the stock 6 cats, because I know no shop will touch an O/R X pipe and I can't justify the money on a catted X-pipe for a DD.

Stainless catted x-pipes can be purchased for around $450 and are worth every penny... also the stock after-cat exhaust isn't that restricitive so if money is an issue just have an exhaust shop replace the glasspacks with flowmaster mufflers.

The factory 6 catted midpipe is terribly restrictive

Yeah I thought about going that route and just having Flow 44s put in, but for some reason that just seems half-assed to me, but I can't justify why it seems half-assed...it just does, lol. I dunno, even with an O/R and a Flowmaster catback @ $350 from American Muscle, by the time you get it all installed, etc., I'll probably be out $750, or in the neighborhood of a grand for a catted pipe. Not to mention I gotta convince the wife, considering I bought this car to be "cheap daily transportation while we buy a house and get you a nice car blah blah blah" lol

Wow that's a nice looking camaro man. Why not install the exhaust yourself? It's really not that difficult. In fact I bet a shop would do a midpipe and cat back install for under $100.

Regarding the wife, do what I do pretend to go to work in teh morning and when she leaves for her job just go home and wait for the UPS truck. Once teh stuff is delivered hide it

Nice Mustang my friend. Gotta love the triple black. Do my melvin eyes deceive me or is that an aftermarket front bumper? It just looks like the fog light area is more square than a stock cover. Anyway, enjoy the ride!

So the dealer received the payment so we are all square there, and now they are going to FedEx me all the original documents to sign for titling/registration etc...in the meantime, I'm wondering if I shouldn't just have them replace the intake before I take delivery?

I'm not going to bother doing it myself, I'll screw it up.

What can I expect to pay? $700? Think it's a good idea to let them do it before I even get the car and just get it over with? Or will they look at me like I've got three heads and have no idea what I'm talking about with an aluminum intake despite this being a massive problem?

It's $200 for the 99+ PI intake... I'm sure a shop would install it for you for under $500. I wouldn't bother replacing the 98 intake because it sucks. The 99 will bolt right on using the 99+ intake gaskets. The only thing you need to do is have the shop use some RTV in the intake coolant ports because they are a slightly different shape compared to the NPI intake.

Well, I (my dad) should finally be taking delivery this week.

I told the dealer I'd take it January 31st, they received total payment on February 7th, and I STILL am waiting for it to be delivered. Last I heard the dealer was saying early this week, they are working it out with my dad.

Man, what a long process. This dealer is not going to win any awards for quickness.

On the plus side, I got a NOS cigarette lighter for it off ebay for $9.

ide recomend you change out all the fluids, check the plugs, change the fuel filter, change your belt, check out the brakes... that kinda stuff

do you have any plans of lowering the car in the future? if so i would knock them out at the same time. a decent suspension setup can make the world of a difference on these cars

I'd like to but I've got a house and probably a little C-class to buy for the wife later this year.

This dealer is really dragging ass, last week they told me they were going to deliver it by the end of the week, which then turned into early this week, it's now Monday night and they haven't said a peep to my dad or myself since they said that, and my sales guy is off on Tuesdays.

Been paying insurance on this thing for a month now, losing my patience. Finalize a date and get it over with and close it out.

I appreciate that they were willing to work with me while in Japan, but I'm sure most other dealers would've done the same. Can't say I'd do business again because of all the errors and how slow they've been with everything.

IF I were to lower the car, I'd be looking at:

Is there anything else I'd need? This is really getting up there in price, that's in $840 in parts alone which gets awfully expensive just to lower a daily driver, especially when you factor in another couple hundred bucks to install it. $1000 seems insane just to lower a DD a couple inches...especially when I've got junky glasspacks that need to be ditched ASAP.

Granted the shocks/struts are maintenance items, but still, if I'm going to lower the car, I may as well do shocks/struts at the same time.

Anything else I would need to lower it correctly?

Save the install money and do it yourself. It's all pretty easy, especially the back end.

I don't have any tools, and by the time I pay for a torque wrench I may as well have just paid to have them put in. I'm also not a fan of dealing with spring compressors and the resultant forces and possible injury.

that is the damn near perfect list for a dd however if you are looking to save a little coin i would also check out theses springs
