Ok well Yea I just got some new plugs in. NGK V-powers, from what I have heard they are pretty good. And I started the car and it seems to be idleing smoother. Tomorrow I will find out if it runs any better but yea. There should be a "warning do not attempt spark plug replacement yourself" That WAS THE WORST!!!! I got the drivers side done quick. But then I moved to the passenger side and....... Pretty much, my hand hurts now... Lol banged it against the damn alternator and strut tower brace plenty of times. Anyway yea just thought I would share my story. And oh yea according to my haynes manual all I would have needed was a gapper a couple of extensions and a ratchet. PSha my ass seems like I needed a lot more than that.

Welcome to our world I usually rip out all the smog hoses completely to get in there and it still takes me an hour.

Thats exactly what I started doing at the end. Ripping those hoses out to pull the last two plugs out.

I agree that with the AIR system lines it's a pain. On the pass. firewall plug, I put the socket on the plug and use a box-end wrench on the socket directly. Otherwise I need 40 extensions and swivels and cant torque anything.

If you think we have it bad, thank God you don't own a camaro. Tear all the smog crap out. My car didn't come with any of that and it only takes me 10 min to switch mine out. How are those NGKs working, I've heard that the cheap Autolites/Motorcrafts are the best for our cars. I once tried the plat and then the splitfire and they just made my car run like crap!!

The NGK's seem to be working great. No complaints so far. But I changed them because I had a slight miss and my gas mileage was terrible. I filled up sunday night and today i have only put 70 miles on the tank and its at half so last night seeming my tank at half I said screw it and changed the plugs and the ones I had in there where motorcraft plats, and the plat. tip was gone, lol. Hence why the mileage was bad (at least I hope that was it) I am assuming that was it because on the ride to work today the needle didnt move much. But yea I went with NGK's because ive done a lot of reading up on their design and from what I read their design delivers a superior spark compared to the cheap autolighters(lol) and I know a lot of ppl with 4.6's and cobra's who use them over any other plug out there. What kind of plugs do you guys use?

autolite 3924s. i've heard quite a few problems with using other plugs that say they offer superior performance. never had a problem with these

Motorcraft or Autolites both work well for our push rod motors.....

For a plug to deliver a superior spark, it *mainly* comes down to metallurgy, not having 27 prongs on the tip (shrouding-issues aside). Were I desiring a step above coppers, I'd go iridium.

Even 'cheap Autolighters' should have performed much better than plats. As Danny noted, you really cant compare mod-motors and pushrod motors and the plugs they need. When reading about mod motors and then ours, you can see more than a few things that they do differently.

In any case, the plugs should do well (a few guys in here really like them). Good luck.

Lol, I didnt mean any offense when I said cheap autolighters, just joking. I used autolites in my old 3.8 religiously and never had a complaint. lol. Just thought I would try something different and the tip is a regular tip no special prongs, lol. But what different on the NGK v-powers is the electrode design, something about the electrodes groove that allows spark to travel completly, or something like that.

No offense taken...but I might say that a good deal of the turbo guys have run autolite plugs with great success.

There's nothing wrong with NGK's. There's only 3 kinds of plugs that I will consider running in my Stang ..... and NGK is one of them. The others are Motorcraft and Autolite.

Oh, I take no offense. I have no affiliation with Autolite so I could care less.

I agree with you, Justin (I think Andy runs NKG's too) and the rest. In my bikes I only use NGK's as well.
