Got that transmission dropped today. I was thinking I was just gonna pop off the bearing retainer, install my shim and bearing race that I forgot to put in before, then plop everything back on and go. However, when I took the retainer off, here is what I found:
I actually had already snipped the cage off here since it was torn and a few rollers had come off and probably got chewed up.
There was also damage to the inside of the bearing retainer... it WAS brand new, now gonna have to get that replaced. Gonna call Hanlon tomorrow and order a bearing retainer and caged roller bearing.
So based on the damage seen here, anyone think anything else might have been fudged up? And is what I have on here already the "tapered" roller bearing? Thanks.
