I was at the Chevy dealer not long ago, and they had an '08 or '09 Vette (I forget) but with only 3K miles on it for $35K. What a steal ... the thing was pristine like new. I'd take that Vette over the Challenger and pocket the extra $10K any day of the week.

Actually it was a 2006 with 5K miles, but I remembered the price right ($35K). It is even GM certified. Here is a picture of it:

The 300 is getting a new design this next year I believe. Like said in the 2 yr old portion in the thread, they killed the Challenger before building it by putting it on the Charger 4 door frame. If they put a dedicated frame on the car and shed some weight, the hemi would be a potent little setup. The thing I think about the differences in the engines is the all in the cubes. The hemi has plenty of room to grow into its skin so to speak while the new 5.0's are 302's and ours are 281 c.u. I believe. I am a Mopar guy actually but I don't drive a challenger because a) it is not anywhere near my pricepoint and b) it's just too heavy and more of a cruiser than a toy.

There was also other motor options:

Slant 6
318 2 barrel
340 4 barrel

2 Auto Tranny's and 3 Manual transmisisons.

3880 lbs is what this motortrend article says but if they weighed the convertible then it would be a bit lighter for the hardtop.
Price for the Cuda was $3433 with a $871 option for the HEMI.

Well even after reading your review I still want one or at least try to test drive one... After seeing a R/T run 13.0's flat at the track with full weight and minor bolt ons I still want one, those Hemis have guts that the 4.6's dont have sorry to say.... Yes the interior is plain and the price is stupid high but I hope that Chrysler can get their **** together and start selling cars again at fair prices, if htis car could be sold at Mustang territory I believe Ford would really have to worry about the Challenger, and not the Camaro... Also I would hate to see an American automaker fail especially in this economy the way its going, it would be like straight punch in the face for American automakers... That is what the Challenger is for its an American icon and the looks sell *its one of the reasons the first Mustang did so well, but when the Camaro came out Ford had to improve the power to keep a stake in the ponycar market*, I see so many V6 Challengers/Chargers out on the road that Im begining to believe that the style is this cars biggest plus and hopefully brings some life back to Chrysler....

End post...

I dont know why people always compare the SRT8 to the mid level mustang. Thats the top tier version you can get from dodge. The SRT8 are $10,000-15,000 more than a base GT anyways.

It should be:
Challenger R/T
Mustang GT

Then
Challenger SRT8
Mustang SVT Shelby GT500

That is why I posted above

Shouldn't have linked this in the Dirty Wheel(off topic section in stangnet). This is so old, it is never going to die now. It is an old review

yeah, I was thinking the same thing. At the end of the day, it's pretty bad a** that we are privileged with having the choice of purchasing one of many American RWD V-8 cars with more than 400 HP

America F*** Yea!
