k member install

hey i'm installing a mm k member, a-arms, coil over conversion and the frp 5 lug disc conversion on my 88 stang.
question, can i put it all together first then just bolt it all in together.
would this be easier or more difficult?

if i did another k-member install i would put the rack, a-arms and spindles on before i bolted the k-member up. To do that you would probly need a buddy to help lift it on the car, i did myne by myself and bolted it piece by piece

I assembled it all first and it was real easy but I had my engine out and I have a lift so all i had to do was drop the car down on the K member. The MM k member looks way heavier duty than the cheapo QA1 that i got so you might need a few sets of hands to do it that way. If you need to swap everything over in a hurry that'd be the way to do it. But if you have some time, assemble it in the car and make it easy on yourself. I ended up having to take mine all apart after I learned it pushes the front wheels forward an inch. I chopped and ground pieces out till it fit right then put it all back together on the car. Both ways were pretty easy for me...

How bad are those QA1 K members? I bought an 88 Notch with one, and it seems the front wheels are out of place. What gives?

I was very unhappy with it, It pushes the front wheels forward about an inch. I had to hack the k member and my frame to get it even relatively close. All that QA1 says is that it is for racing only and does not mention what it does to the wheel placement. I would not recommend it at all
Shame on me for not looking at other people's reviews. Not many people seem to have good luck with them unless they are running skinny's up front

They all suck except for Griggs, MM, and Kenny Brown.
Too bad all three of them cost an arm and a leg by the time your done.

To the OP, i'd leave that stuff off, so you have multiple places to measure for squaring it up. Also no need for the extra weight or awkwardness when lifting.
It's not like the arms with no springs and the rack are hard to install.

I did a UPR K-member/A-arm/coil-over swap in my 1.5 car garage with no power tools and a engine support bar 1000 Lb. Capacity Engine Support Bar and it was pretty simple and straightforward doing one piece at a time. I don't think it would have made it any quicker to put it all together before the K-member was on but it definitely would have made it more cumbersome and necessitating more hands that just mine had I tried it.

It will make assembly easier if you do it out of the car, but installation will be harder.

was just painting the engine bay at the same time so i was thinking i might bolt it all back in 1 piece to get back driving quicker, but.......looks like according to the polls assembling piece piece by piece on the car wins.
i'll just take my time, do it the right way and prevent any headaches before happening.
