Looking for the distance between the top 4 mounting bolts, as my fox was in a front fender bender and wanted to verify the distance.

Thank you!

I have mine out of the car..... so here’s what I have from my ‘86.

I can’t swear it wasn’t tweaked at one point. This car does have an aero nose conversion, so I do suspect it was in a minor front end crash at some point.

Edit: And it may be tough to tell in the pic, but the zero end of the stick is at the center of the hole.

Any chance you can measure the distance of the two inner rear mounting bolts?

I know my k-member was tweaked. I just want to measure and see how much.

Thanks!

Looks like 27 3/4" on mine. I know it was tweaked though somehow even though I don't see any signs

K-member holes match.

Were there any differences in the k members from ‘79-‘93?

Yes, there were. Earlier K-members were narrower by about 1" where the control arms mount up. The 87-93 V8 cars had welded up spring perches while 4 cyl and pre-86 k-members had stamped.

Compare the spring perch area on yours to this 87-93 k-member.

The mounting points are all the same

Mike, your reference to “earlier” K-members prompts the question of when was the break from “earlier” to “later”?

Unknown. Or at least I don’t know for sure where the transition was.

a very highly regarded reference book that I will need to quote later on lists it as some point in early 1988. So it could be a late 87 or early 88 transition
