hey, i picked up a 02 v6 mustang a while back and wanted to do the basics, intake, exhaust, chip, enough to get it away from being just another plain jane mustang. I picked up a K&N intake and threw it in, secured everything, tightened everythign, followed the instructions to the t. So this is where my problems start, the car is (as the dealership put it) "trailerhitching" where at speed if you let off the gas the car feels like its jolting and sputtering, sometimes small, sometimes jarring. And when the clutch is depressed the idle is erratic, its even stalled out on me twice. has anyone had this problem or have any insight, as of right now the dealership is telling me they havent a clue whats wrong, saying that there isint any "codes" from their computer scanners.

Hey,

I just bought the K and N CAI too, and am beginning to have this problem. Have you found any solutions to the problem? I see this post was up a long time ago. Let me know, it would be greatly appreciated.

Have you guys tried disconnecting the battery and allowing the adaptive memory in your ECM to clear?

Just for S&G's try disconnecting the battery for approximately 10 minutes. Pump your brakes a couple times while the battery is disconnected to discharge any residual power. Reconnect battery and take it out for at least 6 drive cycles. (drive cycle = minimum 15 minute drive at varying speeds then an engine shut down)

This process will clear the adaptive memory (fuel trims & such) from the ECM and force it to re-learn.

The instructions with the K/N FIPK clearly state to disconnect the negative battery terminal.

I followed the instructions to the letter and I've not experienced any of this. Mine runs and sounds great.

Make sure your fittings are good and tight and not on "cockeyed" as well.

You'd get the ol' service engine light if the MAF sensor wasn't plugged in.

i have an 03 v6 mustang and have the exact same problem with deceleration. It only jerk on deceleration. Some people have told me that the maf might be dirty. I emailed k and n and they will take no responsibility for it. They say its my car but I beg to differ. I had no jerking without the k and n. Now i just want my money back.

You can use a spray can of electronics cleaner to clean the MAF and see if that helps.

Re-install your OEM MAF screen if possible, or fabricate one from stainless steel mesh.

I had the problem too and I got the FPIK II, and it jerked and jolted on idle on flat roads (rolling idle) and also down hils without giving it gas or braking slightly, but i recently got a diablosport and it increases the hydraulic pressure (automatic tranny) by A LOT! and it doesn't seem to do it now, and it also slips the tires from 1st to 2nd under WOT, and a little bit from 2nd to 3rd... hella more power and better FIRMER shifting...
