Hey guys, havent been on the forums in years so I started a new name. Went from 88 GT to an 01 GT. Owned the car 2 weeks and I need to it faster, so...

Im getting the KB 2.1L 6psi and 9psi pulley (9 for later) and no intercooler (yet). I've never played with computers and fuel injection, always been carbed. The install "seems" not too hard. I would like to know any tips and precautions from you guys theat did the blowers yourself.

My biggest worry is I've never used a tuner. I've used diagnostic tools thats it. When the install is complete can I just plug the chip in and set it to a "safe" tune without starting the motor? I am afraid of leaning the motor out, especially having only owned the car 2 wks. I AM going to my local speed shop to get it tuned professionally afterward.

I will post my dyno sheet. Just being KB'd. No HCI. just exhaust which is next to nothing.

1 more thing, so for long post, I DID search first and didn't get the answers I was looking for. Thanks

You'll love your Kenne Bell. I have the 1.7L that I bought before the 2.1L came out. It's easy to install. I did the IC. I have a 9psi pulley but at 6350' in elevation I'm only getting 6psi of boost. I'm going to change to a 12psi pulley to gain that extra boost. My tune was just plug and play from KB. I don't use the race tune yet. When you start it up, it will be in safe mode. I don't even have my switch hooked up for the switch chip. Just be sure to use high octane pump gas.

thanks, thats awesome. I'm just hoping it's not one of those things that appears easy and then it turns into a 2 week nightmare. I can't see it taking more than 10-15 hours. But then again I've had simpler things take longer.

No special tools needed? No notching, cutting, welding, bending fabricating etc?

I can't wait for this thing. I'm in South Jersey. We are at sea level pretty much everywhere so I'll be getting the full benefit of each pulley. Our summers do range from 85-105deg until early October, I might do the IC later on especially for the 9psi pulley.
