Well, I guess after a while of jumping back and forth between the twin turbo and KB idea, I've actually made up my mind and decided to do the KB.

Now, before I ask the question.. keep in mind I haven't ridden in too many REALLY fast cars in my lifetime. The fastest one is a guy I work with who has a 240sx with a sylvia engine and a T4 turbo @ 15psi with a FMIC. That MF'er is FAST. It's hard to comprehend something pulling harder than that thing does, although that's mostly due to my inexperience riding in fast cars. He's never had it dyno'd, has no concept of what HP it might be pushing.

Anyway, what I'm getting at is, just how hard does the 9# KB pull? Would one of these annhialate a turbo 4 popper like the sylvia?

I can't say about the Sylvia engine, as I know nothing about it. But my
KB intercooled running 9psi sure is a blast, and it pulls very hard. It's nice
to have low end torque for the street. Maybe someone near you has one
and they'll take you for a ride in theirs.

i dont have a KB but my buddy has one on his GT. it is all stock down to the rear gears and he is running 12.43 @115 on street tires. riding in his car makes mine feel slow and i have WAY more done to mine! you will not be dissappointed with a KB!

I'm only running 6psi....but I've got 4:10s in the ass

the car is stupid fast (I don't track it....so I don't have 1/4 times)

adding the KB felt like I dropped 1000lbs off the weight of the car...seriously

I've also got a Morgan +8....it's a 2000 lb roadster with a 3.9l V8 in it.....and my Mustang makes the Morgan feel totally tame...almost slow (and the Morgan +8 performance has been known to scare it's owners)

when you're granny-shifting....she behaves just like a stocker....you don't even know the blower is there.....but when you step on it...the car is a freak....blower just singing away at like 15,000 rpms trying to ripp your head off your shoulders

the car is like Jeckel and Hyde with the lung:nice:

not to offend anyone but i had a lil streetrace with an LT1 firebird the other day and i pretty much put like 20 bus lengths on him instantly. It was kind of cool because when i was bone stock i would be side by side with LT1s and now i leave them like nothing, that race really showed me how much faster my car really is now. you wont be sorry about goin the KB route.
Dont know if u ever saw this so i'll put it up again, me racing an 03 cobra

KB low end torque is  however, you could save almost 3 grand and just go with a vortech. 3,500+ on the rpms and the thing is pulling like a beast!

3 grand less and same hp. Also, no traction issues out of the hole. ;)

has anyone gotten the new 2.1 and pushed it to it's limits yet?
here's my take on Power adders.
1. Positive displacement blowers. Great for a street car, and there are some that can make truely big power. I viewed the 1.7kb as a if your happy around 400rwhp a great kit. Waiting to see results on the 2.1. And looking at the fact you got 3.73's I think you'll have a BLAST with a kb.
2. Turbo - If making big power is your goal the way to go. However I haven't seen any kits for the stock engine 2v's do any better than any of the other power adders.
3. Centri blowers- All the negatives of a turbo ie spool/lag/no increase in lowend torque. With out as much growing room. ONCE again unless you buy a bigger blower that won't do well on the stock SB. Ok the one excpetion seems to be the novi2000 which works well in both settings.
4. Nitrous - Cheap, makes tons of torque, and is there when you want it. Of course there are those that whine about it that have never had it or for that matter ridden in a nitrous car.

I wish I could tell you what my numbers are but I just got all my problems worked out (not KB related) and it's officially winter here. So no track till spring and no dyno for a few more months.

But I can tell you... it's night and day.

I put a 2.1KB on a stock 4.6 2v (my engine) save for full exhaust. (with a 9psi pulley)
It only sees 7.5 psi on the dyno until it peaks at 10 at like 6100 rpms.

with a 12.5 a/f, she put down 390rwhp/386 tq on a mustang dyno. This is a fairly conservative tune by a very reputable tuner. It pulls like a freight train...
