Keep ur fingers crossed for me ...

sweet, i would get a marti report or at least call them and order the basic report and see if they can tell you if the car is a true gt before you lay down any cash. the 69 GT is about the easiest to fake since there isn't really anything GT specific except the gas cap. otherwise it is mostly an apperance package, it's actually a lot more than an appearance package but everything you could get on the gt you could get on a plain jane mustang if chose the right engine and subsequent suspension components as well.

thanks and good info

Here's the GT kinda stuff on the car I know for sure right now:

it has a non functional hood scoop
pin style hood locks
styled steel wheels with the GT center caps
GT pop open gas cap
dual exhaust with the quad tips
stripes front and rear across the bottom of the doors
has the 351 "H" 2bbl
and according to the VIN, it came out of Dearborn
C6
so far, so good

it also has the rim blow horn
deluxe white bucket interior
power steering
power brakes
it also has an AM/FM/Cass and the Clock
dual sport mirrors

its Acapulco blue with a white top

NICE !

well it's had some work done on it that would make me a bit suspicous. the H code 351's did not have the quad tips and they also only had single exhaust. only the M code 351's and larger engines got the duals with quad tips. also all of the 351 cars got the FMX trans not the c6. please make sure to verify that it is a true GT before you plunk down a lot of cash, Marti Autoworks should be able to tell you over the phone if the car is a true GT as long as you order a report and pay for it with a credit card right then, it is worth the money if for nothing other than piece of mind. if it turns out to a true gt then that is great, if not and you like the car and still want to buy it you'll have some room for negotiation. i love the 69 GT's and hope to eventually own one of each body style but as it sits i'm only a third of the way there, LOL.

if you get it

come on over to 69stang.com I bet you can't guess what year and model I have. I love the '69 convertible up front, don't like the fake side scoop and the rear taillights. But it looks so much nicer up front than the '70, '69s had the best looking front ends. Good luck!

I have a '69 convertible GT. It's a great car and lots of fun. Hope everything works out for ya! I will agree that it's a little weird that the car has a C6 with a 351. I have an FMX, and I believe all 351's did as well. As for the dual exhaust, I think that all GT's had duals, and I know that you could get a 351 2v in the GT, thus the duals are probably original. Its probably got the FMX in it, but you may just want to verify that. I wouldn't worry too much though, even a GT clone is bringing a ton of money. If it turns out not to be a GT, just be happy you found a 351 convertible.... almost an impossible task these days. What is the asking price?

actually the GT got the exact same exhaust exhaust as the mach 1's and even the 351-2v mach 1's didn't get the duals with quad tips. it is possible that it was dealer added though i guess. i'd still make real sure and verify with a marti report. i have looked at a number supposed 69 GT's that turned out to be grandes or base cars with hood scoops and 67/68 gt gas caps.

the GT package for 69 was so little known about that most people couldn't tell a real one from an abvious fake which of course only makes it easier to fake one, even if unintentionally by a PO throwing on a hood scoop and a 68 gt gas cap because he liked the look and the next guy who buys the car doesn't know any better and thinks the car is a GT when it really isn't
