I just installed a keyless entry/alarm system into my 90 Convertable. I wired the door locks 5-wire reverse polarity using 2 SPDT relays. Both doors lock/unlock via the arm-rest switch. The passenger side door locks and unlocks with the alarm, but the drivers side doesn't do anything with the alarm.

Being how the lock and unlock for both sides are wired together, and that the drivers side does work with the switch, I'm a little stumpted here. Any help guys?

In the lock-wire you cut for the SPDT relay install, does the common/N.C. pathway go hot when you hit the driver's side switch in the car? Ditto for unlock?

I'm not sure how the locks are broken up, wiring-wise. I'd want to ensure that the wires that were cut were the proper ones. On my 88 GT vert, for instance, I grabbed the driver's side wire (so the keyless only actuates that lock - it saves some wear and tear on my passenger actuator). I was able to make this decision at the lock harnesses under the dash.

Good luck.

I'm going to check that now, along with verifying that I have the correct 2 wires.

Ok, so I think I had a wire hooked up wrong. I think I tapped into the wrong color wire, thing is somebody had an alarm system installed, then removed it before I got the car so the wire coloring is a little hard to tell.

I switched it to another wire and now the only thing that doesn't work is the drivers door unlock with the alarm. Everything works with the buttons, the alarm will lock both doors, but only unlock the passengers door.

Why do people butcher wires so? If it were all the way it should I'd be done long ago.

I have no idea what was going on with that side. I was working on the drivers side, I finally just soldered the wires back to where they were and went to the passengers side. I had 100 times more room and that worked just fine. The system is working perfectly now, I just don't get what I was doing wrong on the drivers side.

Oh well, all is good now.

I'm tagging this for future reference.

Maybe the spliced connection didn't allow enough power to the actuator, but the soldered connection does?

Regardless,
Glad you got it working!
Good job Spokane!!!
